ls1 monaro would suggest that you don't actually have a radiator cap - you just have a cap on the expansion bottle?
Had the same slow coolant loss on my 04 - rad was leaking at the bottom passenger side.
Changed it for a mishimoto unit from the fish. It's cheaper than a GM OEM replacement, and way better quality. Bigger coolant capacity means it takes a little longer for the car to warm up from cold. It's a DIY job if you are handy with the spanners.
