Hello chaps. I've finally put a deposit down on a lovely VXR today, I'll post a proper update when I collect but in the mean time I'm thinking up ideas.

I'd like to replace the head unit with one that has DAB, Bluetooth and allows me to play music off my phone. Something like this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...

It says it has Steering Wheel Input control. Does this mean that the steering wheel audio buttons will work without any adapter?

Also, will I need a fascia surround to make it fit?

I intend on getting it fitted professionally rather than fiddling with it myself as I'd only break it.

Looking forward to entering the HSV fold!

you will need a fitting kit to make the steering wheel controls work and you will need a adapter plate. there is plenty of threads on here about new head units and speaker upgrades. if you want ot get the most out of the sound of the new unit i would suggest swapping over the speakers as well but this then goes into a big job..

This is what I did to mine the moment I bought it.

I bought a high end pioneer sat Nav based unit which was fitted for £600 including the Pontiac GTO face plate adapter.

I would recommend changing up the front speakers and tweeters in the dash as the OEM speaker sound is pretty dismal.
