Looking at the vxr bumper thread with the different colour boot panel, does the boot panel separate on the UK monaros like it does on the US Gtos?

Yes, it's just a bit fiddly. IIRC, it's 2 self-tappers on each end, 3 underneath (torx?), 2 gold-coloured nuts on the back, then you have to simultaneously release 4 squeezy plastic tabs on the back for it to release. You've also got the numberplate, numberplate lights and interior carpet to remove.
