Thinking about replacing my s4 with a vxr8
Discussion
Hey all, thinking about chopping in my stage 1 b8 s4 in favour of a vxr8, Iits an itch I've had for quite some time but never taken the plunge. Now I know they are comepletely different beasts an the only resemblance is the fact that the are both 4 door saloons , I also know that the likelihood is that my car is probably quicker and is better is prob equipped, cheaper to run and tax BUT I still can't shake the urge to do it, anyone offer any thjoughts?

Your B8 is probably better equiped yes.Unless modded, I cant see a 330bhp B8 being as quick as a VXR8. It's only 170kg lighter.
Possibly cheaper to tax. (VXR8 is top band).
Probably not cheaper to run. VXR8 servicing is cheap. Parts can be expensive.
Your S4 is probably equally as quick, better equipped and better screwed together but I bet it doesn't have as much character as a VXR8.
To be honest, I find most owners of German cars tend to be fairly critical of anything with a Vauxhall badge. My advice would be to take a test drive. You'll ever love it or hate it.

Agreed there are plenty out there out there that would look down their nose at the vxr8 purely because of the badge, fortunately I'm not one of them 😜 I've never really been concerned with badge snobbery.
Agreed I need to get out in one an see how they feel, Just a matter of finding one nearby.
Character is something I've never really put much stock in BUT I will agree that the Germans, particularly the last 3 I've owned are quite clinical an dare I say bland! My current steed is very accomplished, it's a great car and j sometimes enjoy the stealth nature of it but there are times when I yearn for something loud and brash hence the pull of the vxr8.
I just don't know if I'd be making a mistake or not, really need to get a test drive !

I owned a stage 2 Audi rs4 and test drove an m3 e90 with a competition pack before I bought mine.
I found the m3 boring in comparison to an R8 and got cut up twice by vans while test driving the m3 over 5 miles.
It is very hard to find anything quite as unique as an R8 that makes you grin like a Cheshire cat as soon as you start it up. One of the best decisions I ever made just try and find a nice one.
