ipod connection to standard stereo

Quite a long time ago I'm sure I read a post on here about connecting an ipod to the standard CV8/VXR stereo. Something about taking the stereo apart and adding a connector of some sort behind the aux plug on the back of the stereo if I remember correctly. Anyone know anything about it?

Hi there. I looked into this but my std head unit display was playing up and disappeared so chose to go after market. Here's the link to the kit/module plus as you said you need to open up your head unit and get soldering. http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/262248577718

Thats the kit, i did this to my old Monaro, you do have to open the stereo up and do quite a few small soldering of wires, i got a very fine soldering iron and took my time and it worked first time , also the instructions you get and on the website are very good so as long as you can solder it shouldn't be a problem

When it's done you have full ipod control from the standard stereo & steering wheel controls

This mod is free (other than requiring a cable with a 3.5mm stereo plug on the end). I can confirm it works. OK, there's no control interface between the car & iPod, but hey...

I have fitted the interface to my standard head unit in my VXR Ro, works well, are you at Ace Cafe on Sunday ?
