Following on from my recent topic about monaro gear knob rattle, it sounds like it's coming from the stick itself.
There is a faint rattle when idling which quietens when releasing the clutch.
Also the gear changes have become very clunky at lower revs.
After doing some research on the forum the car is booked in at local garage next week for spigot bearing replacement.

Now, I've also noticed that the clutch pedal is becoming quite soft on release which sounds like the fluid might need changing?
I don't have a remote bleeder so if the clutch would need to come out anyway should I think about forking out for an ls7 one while fitting remote bleeder?
The car is approaching 98k on the clock, can I expect my clutch to last much longer?

If you're having clutch problems, and you're dropping the box anyway, I would change the clutch for an ls7 unit and fit a new clutch slave and remote bleed while you're in there (along with the spigot bearing). A lot of what you're describing could simply be a rattle from the shifter and manky fluid, but the difficulty in changing gear starts sounding like low clutch material IME.

If you do go the LS7 clutch route and general advice I think would be to do this then I know speed4u has some at the moment might be worth giving him a call 07790829102. Remote bleed a very good idea too.

The labour is such a big part of the cost then whilst they're in there I'd get as much of it done as possible. The LS7 clutch is a big improvement over the LS2 one thumbup

Thanks for the help guys, you're awesome!
Just put my order for LS7 clutch in with Brett so Will be having clutch, slave cylinder, remote bleed and spigot changing next week biggrin

Also managed to sort the gear knob rattle for now with some blu-tac I found lying around.
When I removed the knob I found that the silicon hadn't even set!.
The stock knob seems to be a very loose fit once clipped in so I may look for an aftermarket alternative designed for the b&m shifter.

Just been changing the dipped beam bulbs as they had BOTH blown, and while I was there I noticed the clutch fluid is black.
Suppose this won't be helping things......
