Has anyone replaced the headlmap bulbs in their Monaro. Mine suck. I can see for aout thirty yards - damn dangerous! I was thinking of putting in some PIAA's but don't know which type to get. Anyone?

Yes got to say they aren't brilliant are they.

So I'm not the only one.

Be glad of advice on this one.

Try raising the beams - it's very easy - there's a screw above each cluster under the bonnet to adjust the height without affecting the aim. I found 1.5 turns to be about right.

This improves the viewing distance alot, but theyre still not that bright.

Yeah I raised mine too but they're not great. The lights on my old Calibra were better!

If anyone finds a direct replacement bulb that will brighten things up, I'm all ears. The night driving experience on unlit roads is pretty pants at the moment when on dipped lights (the main beam is pretty good).

Mind you, it's the only complaint I have about the car

Thanks for the tip DrJon - I was wondering how to do that.

I agree with the comments on the lights - it can make nighttime hooning a little too eventful ...

PS - I'm fitting a new set of rear tyres next week (same make/type as before) as I'm down to minimum tread after 5000 miles )

Note: There's also a screw to adjust L/R aim in the same area so make sure you get thr right one. There's easy to understand icons on the trim under the bonnet.

I think the big problem is the very narrow beam of the projector style lenses fitted. Now I've raised mine, they don't light up the first foot or so in front of the car - not a problem, but noticeable.

Brighter bulbs would help, but you'd still end up with quite a sharp cut off to the beam.

LSV sell 40% brighter bulbs, they are quite good.
