HSV GTS VT2 #16 - on death row....
Discussion
Despite all the work that's gone into her, #16 refuses to give me a break. She's up on the ramps at a body shop and we've been peeling back the crap used to hide the effects of 16-years with no underbody protection. The prognosis isn't good, with the sills and main chassis rails in a dreadful state. Number 16 is now officially worth more as parts.
It's a shame, as I've just refurbished the wheels:
I still have an engineless 04 VXR that would love that low miles LS1 lurking in #16's engine bay. The underside of that car is completely rust free too. Maybe I'll swap the bits and put the old girl to rest. Project for a rainy day when VT2's are worth more than jack shyte.

those wheel would look much better on mine than what it currently wears....
Aren't your wheels the same? Had mine refurbed at Max Powder. Good price, though a few imperfections that might upset the purist.those wheel would look much better on mine than what it currently wears....

Love your money-wasting exploits as they make me laugh Now how about a nice 376LSX twin turbo? I think Jez's old kit is still available?
Money wasting!!!!This is an HSV we're talking about!!!!
Anyway, I've lost less on this than I've lost on my daughter's Fiat 500, which had less than 3,000-miles on the clock when I sold it.
Funny, I was pricing up an LSX479...

Engine and box out of the VT would go in that nicely. Think id be inclined to find a better one though.............ArnieVXR said:

The old VT2 will never be worth anything here, so why not concentrate your efforts on the VXR?
You are right, though I always fancied working this VT2 to the point it would run alongside your VX at a Thunder Road. That would be a sight ArnieVXR said:
hmm from little I know about jensens and rust, I would suggest you are jumping from the frying pan in to the burning hot sun.OverSteery said:

So the estimate for professional repairs to sills and chassis rails (along with replacing my rear brake lines) is just shy of £3K.
Hmmmm....
Certainly something to think about, as I buy my Idiots Guide to Welding. Hoping that this involves using a hammer and some big nails, as I'm good at that.
Unless someone fancies a V5 and a rolling shell that is?
