I've been staggered how the Tesler rinses the VXR8 and the raced prepared hsv in a drag race , found on you tube.

Got to get one, to add to my fleet.

Just saying...but nothing like a V8 rumble though

A better illustration of the real performance, rather than the rinky dink tv test. (A v8 supercar isn't a good dragster)

Ballistic off the line, quicker than any HSV to 100. Starts to struggle a bit at 125. Really struggling at 150 and starting to suffer limited power delivery. I imagine this limitation is thermal and imposed to protect the battery?

It's actually slower than my monaro (about 415hp, NA) above 110mph.

Note this is the p85D 'Insane mode' (691hp), the Ludicrous battery fuse upgrade (762hp) is somewhat quicker.

It's all 'off the line' with the Tesla. Electric motors give instant torque.

Shame they don't do re-charge races. smile

It is already having issues by 60 mph. It is at a rough calc 0.5s slower 60-100 than what my GTS did at Thunder Road. This is a fundamental limitation of electric motors, the faster they spin the less torque they produce. MY GTS has a roughly flat Torque curve. The Tesla has a flat power curve as the torque drops off due to the increasing rpm.

I will try and break it down further and see if it really is just the initial launch that keeps the Tesla ahead and at what point the GTS pulls ahead.

P90D insane mode - 11.3s
Gen-f GTS - 12.3s

GTS can be modified to run 10s, if not quicker.

1/4 mile is more for hot hatches, and there's plenty of turbo'd rollerskates that would beat a Tesla over that distance. When you think that big cruisers are for mile munching in comfort, then the Tesla falls far short - in fact, it needs a recharge at about the time our Ute tells me that a rest stop would be a good idea. smile

UK GTS 1/4 time.... Really! To run 10s it ain't gonna be a very good road car.

At the moment the tyres let the car down badly, exciting to drive to say the least biggrin power is incredible at any rev range, I thought my R8 was quick but this GTS leaves Nissan GTR's in the dust from 60mph smile below that the 4wd of the GTR will win everytime

Considering how long Tesla's been at it, the result is astounding. True, the car isn't perfect, but this is the future. We should look forward to the next (or next but one) generation electric cars.

As for running tens, you'll need better traction...;)

10.9 is a good result. Guessing it's not stock on power output. Also guessing that the tyres aren't stock. And the drag strip is a very well prepared piece of Tarmac.

Take a GTS on stock tyres to York Raceway...

According to the owner http://www.hsvforum.com.au/archive/index.php/t-133... it was on drag radials car also has a fair few mods with a stage 3 Harrop kit which includes cam & heads
Being auto will also help it off the line
Won't be a street car on those tyres

Stock it will do a 12.5ish. What's your point?

Neil, 3rd comment down suggests someone else has managed 10.4 on stock tyres though. I didn't realise drag radials came in such a low profile hence assuming the linked vid had stock tyres. smile

Proofs in timing slips and Arnie is one of the most experienced I guess. My Ro did 12.4 with 285 MPSS and Gareth's done high 11s in a serious UTE so can't see 10s here without allot! done. Hell my M6 may only scratch into the 10s this year with Cup 2s and that's pushing 750 and a super fast DCT GBox!

For fks sake. All I was trying to point out was that yes the Tesla is mental off the line due to AWD, it's limits are hit pretty fking quickly.

There are claims of 10's on stock tyres. I never made them, just relayed other peoples claims. There are definitely 10 second cars out there, even if they are on radials. There are no 10 second Teslas though, which was the point I was trying to make. ICE is upgradeable. Electric not yet.
