ACT Twin Plate Clutch
Discussion
Hi,
I'm venturing over form the TVR section for some advice. I have a LS 6.3 Twin Turbo in my TVR and currently have a ACT Paddle clutch in there and its really really heavy and spoils the car.
The 2 clutches I'm thinking of are a ACT Twin plate (listed below) or the Mcleod RXT.
Advanced Clutch Technology T1S-G01 - ACT Heavy-Duty Twin Disc Clutch Kits
The ACT is looking more favorable as I get a nice flywheel as well for about £1k imported from Summit.
Does anyone have this clutch and if so what does it drive like, reports saying soft like stock - just wanted to check don't want to make the same mistake.
Thanks
Neal

I have an early twin with one race plate (sintered) and one organic plate rated at 1085 ft lbs. Its been in for about 7500 miles and is heavier than stock on the verge of uncomfortable. With the old GTS knocking out around 600 at the wheels with torque around 580, the ACT and its light flywheel is now done for. I don't believe this semi race combination is sold anymore. Probably for good reason, however, it did do a good job while it lasted.
I've the T2 ACT twin, twin plate organic ( bought off Richard, might be worth a shout to see if he still has some ? )
I'd say at times I've pushed it far beyond it's rating and so far no problems with it at all. I'm near sure it was only rated around 900/900 when I bought it a few years ago.
Pedal is a little heavier than other clutches I'd used but nothing difficult, but the T1 would indeed be lighter.
Whilst all the other paddle clutches I have used were great, they drove smoothly etc when you go back to an organic clutch, you really appreciate how nice they are.
As for other options...
MCleod always gets good reviews, some like Mantic, SNL/Monster many people like them too and some of their twins are largely based around OEM parts, which cant be a bad thing, especially the cover, so pedal for that will be light.
Whilst I dont know anyone using it, Quartermaster released a twin and some singles a while back that looks pretty cool, not cheap however.
Good list of many options here
