I've looked up old posts first but have been a few yrs and there are newer seats out there

What are people using for the first forward facing seat as my little one has just turned one and can't stay in her backfacing seat much longer

Tried today maxi cosi Tobi but had issue std belt not long enough and belt extenders too long making unsafe

Other kiddy phantom Iso has easier isofix points but has new arrangement where you belt round stomach rather than over shoulders

I use a BMW type 1-3 seat and the regular belt and a maxi cosi. However for your very young youngster you really need a a seat that can 5 point the child in. My Monaro does not have isofix for some reason. I suggest you go to a big mothercare superstore and try a load out.

If you need longer belts I have found a place in west byfleet that can make you up new belts. I have had some swanky red belts made for the front and plan to do the tears at a later date. Do a Google search of seatbelt west byfleet and you will find them. Their web site is not exciting, but the service and quality from them is first class.

Hope this helps

For a non-ISOfix monaro the Recaro young sport works well.

I'm using a maxi cosi for my youngest and had the same issue with the belt not being long enough. I bought a seatbelt clip extender and this extended it just enough and keeps the seat tight. I'm also using a rubber seat mat so it grips the seat better.

Obviously a non-ISOfix seat is still an option in an ISOfix car, but there's probably a more convenient option. I went to a specialist shop for the Recaro - not sure if it (and its ISOfix equivalent) are typical Halfords/Toys r' us fare.

Hi Paull. At just over 12 months old your little one is too young to legally be in a forward facing child restraint. They have to be at least 15 months old, which I accept is not far off, but you should keep her rearwards facing for as long as possible! It is much safer. There is plenty of room in the back of the monaro so she can stay rearwards facing for a good while longer. Knowing her height and weight will help determine what CRS will be suitable. ISOFiX will make life easier.
