HI Everyone,

I need a new exhaust for my 2002 Ute - the offside rear silencer has just broken off from the pipe - looks to have rusted through, so time for a new exhaust (it has a drone at 2000 rpm so I've been thinking about changing it for a while, this is just the kick up the arse to do it)

Anyone got any recommendations in the Cumbria/Blackpool area for a good exhaust place? (A guy at work who is building a kit car recommended VR Tuning in Kendal - http://www.vrdynotuning.co.uk/) but does anyone have any other recommendations?

I'm going to give Monkfish a call (they probably fitted this originally 10 years ago smile ) and see what they can do - don't think they have Ute exhausts off the shelf though smile

Asking around at work there's not that many options round here - no direct recommendations but a few people have suggested VR Raacing in Kendal - http://www.vrracing.co.uk/ They're Longlife agents and have done work for a few Kit Car builders round here.

I've also spoken to Custom Auto Fabrications in Blackpool (http://customautofabrications.co.uk/) and will be dropping by them this weekend to have a look at the Ute's exhaust, I'll post up how I get on :-)

From the photos, the exhaust welding from the customautofabrications places looks to be of a better standard than the VR place.

proper photos of both their work are lacking though.

Neither look terrible though, but of course that depends how much they're asking for the work.

I went to see Jon at Custom Auto on Saturday - seems like a nice bloke and has a nice drift-spec R32 Skyline (with an SR20 out of an S14 200SX in it).

He reckons most of the existing exhaust is actually in good nick, just that someone has welded a couple of mild steel silencers onto the stainless pipework, so it's not too big a job.

He's estimated £650 to add a couple of centre silencers to kill the drone and new rear silencers and tips (all stainless), so I've booked it in for January, I'll post up some photos when it's done smile

Talking of exhausts, I saw a set of AAS headers on 'H's Monaro, a couple of weeks ago, and they look very well made. I can't say that I've looked at many others, but did like them.

Just to update, I picked her up at the weekend, I'm very happy, looks a nice job, and the drone is gone :-)

I'd definitely recommend these guys to anyone in the area :-)

Custom Auto Fabrications, Blackpool

I'll get some pictures when I get some time during the day, and when I've got her up in the air for a service (fnarr fnarr)
