Does modding affect resale value....

Having modded 3 cars I must say it will de-value their re-sale value but there will always be a specialist market for such cars.
I would expect mine to be worth £25k but having spent £45k on mods I am never going to going to get that money back, good thing I never intend to sell it.
Insurance companies vary in what they will allow regarding after market wheels etc but on power they will put a percentage figure to it.

Mods generally add weight to any insurance policy, just make sure you are up front and it's not a huge difference, especially if you use a specialist broker.
As for desirability, I think if you have the "right" modifications done then you won't make the car less desirable, bolt on goodies can be unbolted and sold seperately but it's things like bodykits / paint jobs that are a personal thing and would devalue a car.
