hiya guys quick question, ive noticed that on my VXR8 it takes a while for the engine to turn over, even with a new battery, this morning was a real struggle in the frost. Now on my old VXR8 this wasnt much of a problem and it wasnt supercharged. My new one is, with a fuel pump, is there a difference between the cars supercharged and non super charged when they start up? does it take longer with a charger or is it more the chance that my starter motor is going?

Mine is exactly the same - and it is supercharged as well.

I did worry about it at first but it has been like this for years now so I am guessing that whatever it is, it isn't the starter motor.

I know it's not a VXR8, but my Monaro is like this- a real lazy cranking. Been like that for years. Even with a new battery it's the same. I treat it as part of the character of the car- like its some kind of reluctance to wake the beast smile

Mine did this too this morning, for the first time ever. It normally turns and starts from cold really quick. But it was about 3C and the car hadn't been used for over 48hrs.

Cold weather does reduce the cranking power of a battery or is it like that hot or cold ?

My VXR8 sounds the same, turn the key, engine groansgrumpy then fires up & mine lives in a heated garage with a new battery.

Sounds like a characteristic of these engines, big & lazybiggrin

Mines supercharged, left on a ctek charger when not used and outside under a cover. -1 this morning fired straight up, been sat there for a week.

Is it worth checking the earth connection from battery to car body or add another earth connection wire ?

Mine is not supercharged so is probably irrelevant to this but it started no probs this morning and it lives outside.

The battery is the same one that came with the car, so I am not sure how old it is.
