battery in the 'ro has finally given up. replacement ordered from mf this morning.

before the charge cooler taking the battery out was a 2 min job, 1 bolt and it comes out.

looking at the cooler, the pipe that runs down to the rad looks like it hasn't got much slack so I can't just move the tank out of the way to get the battery out. do I have to drain the coolant and remove the tank or is there a easier solution?

I just lift it up out the way. Two pairs of hands help. Depends if they left you much slack on the hoses when they fitted.

hoping I can just lift the tank up slightly and move it to the right (maybe someone holding it) while I change the battery over.

I should have the battery today, so planning on having a crack at it tomorrow morning.

I had to remove the tank when i changed mine as there wasn't enough slack

Same here. Good opportunity to change the coolant while you are at it.

You sending it off somewhere? Guessing the 5th gear vibration wasn't a simple fix? frown

There seems a real lack of gearbox rebuild options in the UK, or rather, a lack of known options, it seems lots of people do it, but only in their sheds, and to know who they are you need to be in the right circles, where's yours going?

got the battery changed this morning. managed to just remove the top hose from the coolant tank and loosen off the bottom one so I could just spin it round out of the way.

car started first time and took it out for a blast down the motorway.

get back and try and lock the car, can hear faint sound of the locks trying to lock the door but not much.

I left he car unlocked Monday when the battery died so as not to have trouble getting back into it.

locks feel totally jammed. even with the door open and just press down on the button on the door, it won't move. both doors the same so I'm assuming in need to get the door cards off and replace the a motor. is it worth just squirting some greese in the lock from the side of the door?

glad I didn't start taking the doors apart in the end. all it needed was the doors locked with the key once and then all is well again.
would guess it was just a stuck relay.

Glad you got them working, these cars do tend to play around when you change the battery.

Changed mine last weekend, had to start it 4 or 5 times to reset everything as the Radio/EDI nor the aircon wanted to work !

Always best to add a small 12 volts supply to the cables before disconnecting the battery, that way you dont lose any settings.
