Looks like most people on here are signing up for the new VXR8/Monaro group on FB.

Pros: no over officious mods and silly posting rules and a lot of our old friends banned from here are on there.

Cons: I actually prefer a forum with different threads and sections to refer back too.

There are so many facebook groups that have been going for quite a long time already, I don't know what makes this one any different to be perfectly honest. There will be arguments, people will leave/get banned.

Hard to comment for fear of reprisal on what is really the de facto and largely unopposed forum. It is run for advertisers on a decrepit board by a large corporation, so hard to sympathise with. I think the mods are stuck in a nasty position.

This is a forum for conversation, technical or otherwise. It's easily referenced.

Facebook is for pictures of your cat/dinner/holiday.

A nice place to catch up, post a vid etc - but I wouldn't dream of asking technical questions there; it'll get lost in the chaff on my home page (I'm not a huge fan of FB, but it's nice there is a Monaro/HSV page at last). Each to their own.

IMO, This particular Forum on PH is not liked by many in charge.

You can go into the Vette, TVR, BMW, GG side and there's a huge number of threads on there that we wouldn't and don't get away with here

A Forum is suppose to be fun, and this one hasn't been for a long time now!

The only threads a select few are interested in is Tuning, Big Builds etc, everyone else gets flamed down for asking simple questions and get told to either "Do your own research" or "Google is your friend"

FB gives you the freedom of speech you don't get here and you don't see them getting their panties in a twist over liable !

The Forum will continue, just not as it once did.

I don't use Facebook so if the forum moves to that platform I will lose interaction with other owners, planned meets, upgrade information and plans (may never get to know if Gurmeet finishes his 'Ro lol) and little gems of info from a diverse and knowledgeable group - I was so glad I got on here after a little while on other 'vxr' forums where it was quite childish and my dicks bigger than yours etc to be able to read and be involved in more sensible and informative posts and to be able to look back through past posts to try to find answers to issues. I know I'm not the most active of members in terms of contribution but I log on here many times a day and read new posts - laugh at some squirm at other and get lost in the technical knowledge that is available here

So does GaryH 2008.

They all have an upsurge, then die down and I don't think the latest one will be any different. I'm already getting ticked off at the over-use of pictures.

No MyM8V8, I don't think this place is dead yet - though it makes me laugh that people moan about the lack of traffic here now, when I think of the grief that some of us used to get for chatting here rather than sticking to serious topics (hence the BBQ being started).

I went on the FB group and wondered where the conversations happened. Not a patch on how useable this forum is.

As for freedom, I've never felt that I've been held back. Even raving hasn't been banned since coming back.

I used to love the endless tuning banter, but accept that no one is going to spend big these days on cars that are so old. I've even looked at changing brands to find a forum where this continues, but no other car seems to have this following.

The forum as was is pretty much done for. The old guard is gone, so new postings are now on a par with other forums on PH.

This forum I have found is useful and a decent bunch and it is for Petrolheads.

However (just my opinion so please don't shoot the messenger we are all allowed an opinion)

Faceache is a very clever and manipulative tool designed totally to dumb down the population (so they don't think about the reality going on in the world around them( the gov/tax/immigration) who seem to look at in the main, amazing mind numbing pictures of people/animals they don't even know , friends who they never actually meet and lovely quirky sayings then "like" it . A place for ex wife and girlfriend stalkers and advertisers to see where you are, what you are looking at and design ads directly at you to sell you things you don't need (it is called profiling by the way). A place for the herd but not me.

yep not on it, nor twiter or whatever that is called. Better things to do with my time, this forum and conspiracy theories!.

Yes I have a very relaxed FB group, that I do not push for meets etc.

I do however prefer forums for info etc.

I could easily get banned ;-) but just no one to wind up

It amused me when they ( some of the Old Guard ) use to slate me for breaking straight cars calling me vermin etc , I use to just wind them up for a laugh as I didnt or did give a flying what any of them thought

I do have a good memory & some since have asked me for parts & I just ignore them as I would sooner stick the stuff in the bin the Bell Ends

One thing I have never understood about forums & faceache is why do people on Holiday continually post , is their holiday that ste they have got nowt else to do apart from keep posting

We started another forum & it could of been good with members from the States & Aus , it just needed more time & trimming down on the sections some what

Also whatever you wanted to say you could

After reviewing the forum rules, there's nothing against discussing other forums nor setting one up, only cross-posting (ie. posting the same thing on both).

I have experience setting up web hosting, would you all like me to sort something out and then we form a committee or something to discuss how we move forward?

I belong to [HSV-owners.com]. The forum is/was wonderful. The members not obnoxious like those of [LS1GTO.com].
But the HSV group is dead. No activity at all. It is purely an archive now, with one moderator still on to sweep the dust occasionally.

You cannot let this happen to our Pistonheads. Members here are cool and have pleasant British accents. Great group
