Hi Gang,

I got a Squeal from the engine bay confused

Gauges Normal

Changes with Engine speed goes away once warmed up (15 mins driving)

Quieter under load at low speed.

Sounds like SSSSSSsssssSSSSSSssssssSSSSSSsssssSSSSSS

Possibly my SSSssSerpentine belt? (or somet attached to it) wants changing..?

Any advice gratefully appreciated

Cheers

The main or auxiliary belts would be my first guess too.

You could try adjusting them.

Same - mine has had one of the aux pulleys replaced and the squeal came back. I wouldn't call it a fault persay, but it's known on the LS2 is Corvettes and GTOs so, perhaps, a "feature"?

Spray/drip water on the belt and see if it quietens down for a few secs.

Just a thought, but mine was doing this until the water pump shat itself - changed pump, no more squeal!

Lets Hope Not, but I'd defo rather Diagnose the issue than break it then repair it.

Did Yours Squeal ALL the time or go quiet after 10 to 15 mins..?

Spray a little WD40 or similar product on the belts and see if they stop if so probably the belt either drying out or wearing.

WD40 confused Really..?

Slightly Er, But willing to ears

I do remember belt dressing sprays years ago but don't think I've seen it in a couple of decades...

It won't hurt it if it is the belt it will quiet it for a while just don't spray it into the alternator as then you won't know if it is the belt or bearing

Mine did the same when I first got it. I replaced all the pullys and belts as well as the aux tensioner. All available from Monkfish. Warning there are two lengths of aux belt available best get both and send the one you don't need back.

Yeah it went quiet one or warmed up, about that sort of timeframe maybe a bit shorter. Easy spot though...water was pissing out the front of the pump - though the squeal had been there for a while.

Pop round when you have a mo, we'll have a listen together over a cup of tea and some cake smile

It's probably belts or pullies or both, but we should do some cake anyway.

I asked Monkfish when I ordered the pump, they just suggested changing the pump. Mine has 65k on the clock for what it's worth...
