Hi All,

As the car is coming up to 4 years old and I'm assuming it's still on the original battery, instead of waiting for the dreaded click click click click click, I've decided to change it and get a new one for piece of mind.

I'm looking at the Yuasa Silver YBX5096 (was HSB096) 80AH Capicity with a Cold Cranking Performance of 760A, L-278MM W-175MM H-190MM

I believe an 096 is used in the VXR8 and to be honest, I've not checked the one in mine to make sure it's the same spec but will do over the weekend (I've just this minute decided to change it)

Any views on Yuasa as a make? Seem to get good reviews when googled and comes in at £78 delivered which is miles better priced than the £125 I got stung for a Bosch Silver a while back for the Monaro (must admit tho I was pushed for time and had to get one to make it to Santa Pod and Halfords was closest)

Any input appreciated.

Thanks

No experience.

You'll pay similar for Varta or Bosch silver, or Exide Premium. I'd go with the one with the best spec and longest warranty

The Yuasa one comes with a 5 year warranty, also handy indicator lights on top to show Fully Charged, Charge req'd or Change.

But will investigate others smile

I remember Yuasa as a good brand for industrial ni-cad batteries years ago, if that helps. I wouldn't be averse to trying one.

Yuasa are top notch batteries, they come fitted to most good Japanese motorcycles and had a few in my years and would always stick to yuasa a in them

I've got a Yuasa battery on my Monaro which seems Ok after 2 years of faultless service.

But are you going to make the battery swap over a bit more exciting by adding a constant 12v to the terminals under the bonnet so you don't lose any info when you disconnect old one ????
