Well, at least it is in the sense that it is listed as one of the Vauxhall models in Classic & Sportscar's classifieds section, alongside the Calibra, Carlton, Chevette, Cresta, Firenza, Senator, Velox, Victor and VX220.

On a separate note, has anyone taken out classic insurance on a Monaro, or is it not yet recognised as such by the classic insurers?

I've had it insured as a modern classic - anything over 10 years old IIRC smile

How do I put this.. um, nope.

They've made it so it can be sold on their site; it's not a classic. Not yet.

I'd very surprised if any insurer would entertain the idea of a car that can be less than 10 years old as "classic" in any sense of the word.

Please don't misunderstand me; I'd love that status, but I don't believe a word of it wink

I did try with my one but I was told it at least needs to be 12yrs old.

Well the styling certainly dates from the late nineties!

You might think they're insuring it as a 'classic' but it will be on a 'cherished' policy probably.

If I may be pedantic for a second (insert adenoids voice), technically all Monaros, even the 6.0, were built either in 2005 or before, so very shortly they will all be over 10 years old even if they were sold in 2007! tongue outgetmecoat

They were all built in or around October 2004, actually wink They're all 10+ years old now... must be annoying to have to pay the tax difference on a 2007 registered car.
