Some one reversed into my front bumper and so i needed to replace it. The vxr8 has a K&N air flter, the pipe work comes from the supercharger, through the empty standard air box then down below is the K&N. I'm not sure if the previous owner had a air feed to the K&N before the damage was done but there isn't one there now and i can't seem to figure out how the air will hit the filter? Has anyone else got this set up?

It does but I can't get a photo unless I took off the bumper but the filter basically sits under the plastic air box as the piping goes through the box and out the bottom of it

The air doesn't want to "hit" the filter anyway, it just needs to breath in air from a cold source. I assume there is no restriction to the flow? i.e. the cone is not in an enclosed area?

It doesn't seem like there's any air flow around that area. Where does the air come in from the bumper? It's down the bottom of the front bumper but not that low down. Air isn't going to hit it down there as it's hitting the rad/charge cooler. Maybe I should just remove it all and put the cone filter where the plastic air box is now?

There doesnt need to be airflow around it. Often you want the filter in a location where there isnt turbulent air in the first place anyway

The aussie way is is to drill several holes in the plastic panel below the filter its the plastic panel directly below your cone filter in front of the wheel so the holes are to the road surface

Image on that link... don't know how to get it on here. I've moved the air box out of the way but it sits down there resting against some wires and a bit of body

Thats it and at the bottom of there under the filter there is plastic panel which is part of bumper diffuser, guys in oz usually get a small holesaw and drill 3 or 4 holes in that panel to increase airflow to that area

Yeah mine sits same place but they have kept the air box there... basically the pipe goes through the box so I'll just keep the air box out as it's not needed?

Where do I drill these holes?
