So I managed to get Harrop to provide a shipping quote for two exhaust systems, by... Finding it myself. They had not considered shipping via UPS, so I enlightened them by finding an air freight quote for 750AUD. Now that I paid for both systems, and shipping, they are saying that they can't seem to be able to book shipping at that rate... Really?!?!

Kind of hopeless right now... Definitely feeling like they are not trying hard enough, not being proactive...

Sorry, kind of had to get it off my chest...

I think the saga maybe partly the way you have gone about ordering and paying for exhaust and shipping seperately yourself as you cant really get any money back or change plans now

as Harrop weren't helpful for the start I am surprised you order it from them

would have been best to wait for someone to go to aus and sort it out for you,

best of luck but I imagine your saga will continue smile

I have been quoted double the amount for a bespoke system that I am paying for one from Oz, especially that I have ordered two systems. That is with duty, shipping, and vat.

As for the ordering, I paid them for both shipping and the goods. They were supposed to verify the shipping cost. Did they...

I guess I could ask for a refund as they have not sent the goods yet, obviously.

And I can't see another way of going about ordering, and paying for stuff from Oz, other than how I did it. You get a sales order for what you request, it mentions shipping cost, too. You pay it. They send it. Am I missing anything?

That x-force is pornography smile

If you're ordering from Oz I'd hope it was a decent stainless to bother...don't want it rusting out.

Thanks smile one would have thought the other way around, so good find smile

At the going rate, it might be next year, or never by the time I get the systems... Believe it, or not, I first opened the enquiry two months ago...

If they quoted 750 aus for shipping then they should honour it even if they got it wrong after they took your money

Good luck anyway

One would have thought they should, indeed. Nevertheless, if they are suddenly getting a stupid quote, then perhaps they could just offer money back. I'm kid of fed up with this now.

I am trying to make some sense out of what they are saying, and the only thing I make of this is:
- they are picking different shipping service to get to that amount
- they can't be asked overall

I sent them printscreen of the quote I had got, and if I go on the UPS website now and quote shipping details, it still gives me the same quote that it did when I enlightened them. Which goes to prove this service is still available. How I put the message across is another thing. I would ideally have to be sitting with them by their computer telling what to click to get things underway.

Gonna give it another few days, and going to ask for a refund. Been more than patient for the last month.

The T409 is not very good for british weather if you intend to use it in the salty winter months, will be ok if summer use only, needs to be 316 here in the UK if it's a keeper Bart

Thanks Mick. I am going to give it three days, and if to no avail, I will just ask for a refund. Maybe it wasn't meant to be wink

Sorry for your woes, salutary lesson for anyone else on here thinking of dealing with Harrop direct.

I would not wait 3 days, best to get one sorted over here in 316 quality stainless, think walkinshaw have the same problem but last time I spoke to them they said they would have a new exhaust for our cars very soon

Thanks chaps, it all sounds like they are taking a mickey. Or they are just not interested in dealing. I sent (another!) email asking for a call on Monday to either ship, or cancel.

I hope my consumer rights are something I can hold onto, on the basis of distant selling, even though it is outside EU?

Can't you just organise a carrier to go and collect it? Done this lots with transglobal express

And have them refund the shipping?

Transglobal express quoted three times as much as UPS. Which then would have defeated the point, I guess.

Another reason for my choice, and going with Harrop was that I am getting bimodal switching with it that integrates with the factory EDI.

Give http://www.intercargo.co.uk a try. I've used them a few times now and had no problems. I bought my w427 bumper and had them arrange the collection from their ozzy team, they will just need the details for whoever has your exhaust so they can get the correct dimensions/weights etc and arrange the collection
