Cheers.

Hi Iquana
I am not sure about UK but in NZ the power difference between Monaro and HSV (GTO) is due to headers, slightly bigger exhaust, slightly different airbox and a remapped ECU on the HSV.
This is worth about 40-70 hp over the Monaro depending on model year ( I think about 40hp on the last couple of models). In OZ and NZ there are plenty of Monaros running around with 380-440 hp with headers, bigger bore exhaust and a remapped ecu using usually LS1 edit, this would normally cost in Oz somewhere in the region of $3500.00-$5000.00
HSVs also come with bigger discs/calipers, firmer springs and dampers and thats about it for the running gear.
I hope I am allowed to post this link to the very good forum in OZ which I notice is on drivers club home page. Please edit if not allowed

Hope this info is useful
Cheers Jay

It is possible to get the 2004 Monaro 330 HP up to 410 ish with a cold air intake, larger throttle, exhaust including headers and a re map to suit.

However brakes & suspension remain as standard so possibly require upgrading to suit increase.

The 2005 car is coming with more horses as standard, around 15 or so I believe but the same will still apply to this variant of LS-1 as previous.

Visit www.wrc-tech.co.uk to see what is on offer. I do not wish this post to be a blatant ad so go look for yourself

If you trawl through a few of the earlier posts you will see that a few of us CV8 Monaro owners have had the Linden stage 2 modifications (Stainless headers, CAPA Exhaust, MAF & CAI) and this produced 350rwhp (estimated 400 flywheel hp) at various Abbey rolling road days.

After using a diagnostics tool to investigate the fueling it's apparent that there is scope for a further 20-30hp by tuning the ECU to work with these mods, so in answer to your question you can get VXR power by adding bolt on's and there is even more scope if you get the ECU remapped.

Mines putting out 350 at the wheels but I'm keen to improve this further with hp tuners - up to 430 engine bhp? I've done some work with hp tuners but it's a very time consuming subject so I'm looking for a pre-tested remap.

Cheers for that chaps.

Ps Allan- I had clicked on the PH ad for that site already but hadnt realized it was part of the UKT business empire!
Pps you sold that RS2 yet? I was soooo close to having that before it came your way, the gearbox issue scared me a bit tho- if it helps the history file for selling it I did a Tried & Tested article on that car a few yrs back for 911 & pork world that might be of interest to potential buyers.
