Hi guys im new to this so be gentle! purchased this silver LS2 6.0 ' ro reg GF06CZH last month for £8250 after trying to buy one for ages with a 10k budget. does anyone on here know anything about this car? its had 3 previous owners and its done 122k miles first owner was a company director who did 60k miles in 3 years, the second owner spent all the money - theres over £16k of monkfish receipts including an engine out rebuild at 97k miles in 2012. drives spot on, clutch, gearbox brakes all a1 with no issues no squeaks or rattles inside either! it was quite badly stonechipped on the front end and the wheels were scabby, so its currently in for a front end spray and wheel refurb. ill post up some pics when i get it back (hopefully next week) any info much appreciated. thanks

Sounds like you have a pretty comprehensive folder of receipts. Maybe a call to Monkfish would be a good idea first? They may be able to give you a pointer towards the owner - though if you have receipts, I guess you already have a name and address for the previous owner. smile

I look forward to seeing it around at a few meets. Do you fancy the mile event at Woodbridge in the summer?

There's a few around your area. There's a meeting in Loughborough in a few weeks time, if you can make it. It's a sticky at the top of the forum.

There's also a few other lorry drivers on here, so you're in good company. smile

Don't forget the V8UK one on Sunday tongue out

Although that is down near Aylesbury, there'll be a convoy coming in from the West Midlands area you might be able to tack on to?

Its a bit soon as its in for paint until next weekend ive been told, so ill have to keep my eyes on the forums in the future. thanks for that though. im more concerned in finding out why it had a rebuild at 97k miles, is this normal? ive looked on the boards and some are saying these engines are good for 300k miles with proper servicing. maybe it was a track day blow up! frown(

The engines tend to last forever with regular servicing due to their large capacity and generally unstressed nature (when viewed from a specific power per litre of capacity). The rev ceiling is also quite low for a NA engine and remember they a Chevy engine through and through, built for mile munching across the good old US of A or the great Aussie outback. Mega miles on any vehicle with these engines back in their homeland is not uncommon (we're talking about 100,000's miles rather than that fickle UK 100,000 mileage ceiling when we expect all cars to fall over and die).
These cars do tend to get modd'd and given a good thrashing from time to time, but they generally stand up well to it, as long as they are looked after in return. If yours did have a specific issue which required a re-build, (apologies if you did say who), but as long as whoever did it knew what they were doing, (ie Monkfish), I wouldn't be at all worried going forwards.
They do wear their age/miles well, with most things needing attention tending to be bits that were not factory protected for our climate, ie, hoses perishing, radiators, brake lines, general exposed under body etc.

Maybe it broke a rocker, spun a bearing or something similar, so it was thought a good idea to give the engine a re-fresh as it had nearly 100k on it.

As I said before, contact the previous owner, or Monkfish. If there's a client confidentiality problem, they'll tell you that.

I’ve got this car now and it’s currently on the road. Still runs sweetly and handles well. Can’t understand the engine rebuild at 97k (I’ve got the old bills) as they do run forever if correctly serviced? It might be up for sale soon.
