Has any one had problems with the ABS light being on all the time ( the vehicle seems to be peforming OK )

A friend has a 2004 SS ute and cannot find anyone in this area (KENT) to assist.
Any ideas anybody?

G,day Trevor just rang my Local Holden dealer over here for ya mate and he says... take of your wheels and check to see if there is any moisture ingress on the sensors just near the brakes these are your ABS sensors one of them may have worked loose spray with WD40, make sure the engine and ignition is completely off dont pull the lead off just make sure they are on tight, as you may loose the memory, and if that doesnt clear it,does the Vauxhall Tech II unit plug into the the ute? as they use the same unit here in OZ as i had to have my VT reset for the airbag and i,ve seen the Tech II unit when i had my vectra reset in england, let me know how ya get on matey...all the best Skippy xxx

HI Trev, If he is comming along to the ACE maybe I could have a look. There is a way of showing the trouble codes through the dash display, I will have a look around for the method.

Has he messed around with the Cold Air Intake at all? ie removed it or anything like that?
You're probably thinking what are you on about moto?
A lot of people over here replaced their Cold Air intakes with the Monaro item only to find their ABS lights would come on! wierd!!!
There was a simple explanation....where the Intake fits against the chassis rail is a white looking plug that can occasionally get disconnected when you re-position the Cold Air Intake. This plug is connected to the ABS system and has its own little clip to the rail to try and keep it out of the way.

Many thanks all, very interesting, apparently the Ute has been rust proofed-maybe a sensor wire has become disturbed. Also, the Ute had to have a new IAC valve when almost new-to cure it's 2500rpm tickover!
I think a check on both the ABS wires and the white plug are in order.
As far as comming to the Ace, I'll try to see if he can come along - Thats if I can keep up with him!

I had a similar problem on my VX. Check the ABS fuse, as the one in mine was faulty, replaced it, and the light went off.

Hi Trev,

Best thing to do with the ABS light is to take the bulb out!

Regards,
Fred.
