Anyone want parts from Oz?

Container is a 20Ft, but has other stuff in it, but can put stuff inside my car. All a bit of a rush, and didn't get things entirely organised as I am in the UK, and the car is still in Australia.
Container is being packed over this weekend, and is near the Port of Brisbane. Early indications are that the container will be here by 2nd Feb. Might be earlier, might be a week later, depends on trans-shipping congestion in asia.

Hey,
I own a VT Comm and am thinking about moving back to England. I have poured my heart, soul and wallet into the car, and will not leave without it. Could you pass me on any web sites or information regarding registration in the uk, and customs. I would greatly apprciate it.
Thanks
Simon

Yeah, was in same boat, figured that better to spend the £1000 to get it over here.
Talk to Tony from Seaway in Brisbane 0738393373 , as you could get it on a Roll on Roll off boat, but earliest would probably be March. You would have to do all the customs paperwork yourself. Or you could get someone at the agency to do it on this side for about £200 including wharf fees. Was around the £500 mark.
Container is a bit more expensive. That is how I am getting mine here.
As far as registration goes. Talked to a copper mate of mine, and you can run around on your Australian plates for 6 months. The only modification you have to make is when the fog lights are on, that there is a light on the back.
To avoid paying customs, you have to have own the vehicle in australia for more than 6 months, and you can't sell it here until it has been here for 12 months. Might want to take get it rust proofed, as don't think that the VT had a galvanised body unlike the VX.
The DVLA website is pretty good. www.dvla.co.uk i think it is.

Saw your comment on rust proofing, if your car is not Wax Oiled then you should get it done as soon as, probably best to get it done before your get it over here. My VX1 was Wax oiled just after I got it as a break pipes looked quite venerable with all the salt that they put on the roads in the UK.
There are a good number of VT's already over here you should be able to read across from.
I have seen a VT with fog lights in the top section of the Plastic lenses on the boot lid. It looked a lot better than replacing one of the reversing lights with a fog light (which I know has been done on others).
I am sure you are aware that you need a speed converter for the speedo so that it reads in MPH rather than KPH to get the politer to do the right thing. A sticker over the KPH in the middle of the speedo will do or if you have a friendly garage with the right kit you can get then to change the display to read MPH rather than KPH.

From what I was reading, they changed the rules that you can have either MP/H or KM/H. Definitely going to have a little indicator though on the speedo to mark the speeds in MPH.
Will have to come down to the Isle of Wight for a visit. Living in Portsmouth, so it is just a short trip over on the ferry. Just can't wait to finally have good fast reliable transport again!
