Just had my Monaro CV8 renewal through, and while I always paid about a grand for my Jap import Subaru Imprezas I was amazed:

£316 for me (31) and the missus (31) inc business use.

Not bad, that's through Liverpool Victoria and they said mods were fine aslong as the engine capacity remains the same.

Thought it may be useful to have an insurance thread as reference if anyone wanted to get a load of quotes from reasonable insurers.

This sounds fantastic. there was a thread on this topic in last week of May 2004 as I was buying my CV8 and £900 from Tesco seemed to be about the best quote.
Do they think you have a Movano?

I pay 620 with Direct line, full NCB age 44 incl missus, plus another (optional) hundred or so to protect the NCB. They want another 230 for the Linden stage 2. DL were by far the cheapest at the time, but they did insist on Tracker basic being fitted, which is fine by me.
A Flux wanted well over a grand as did all the others I tried. Many "regular" companies declined to quote(AA, esure, elephant etc)
I will try Dan the Man's insurer next time and see what they can offer me, Sounds too good to be true! I am the same postcode so should be similar. Dan the Man, I would like to hear your Linden Exhaust system before I go for it, if thats possible sometime.
Still love the car, just gets better!

That is truly amazing.

I just changed from What Car (Liverpool Victoria).

I had a 3ltr Omega (Group 16), max no claims, class 1 business use and the premium was lower for including the wife. I am the wrong side of 50 and I live in the midlands. Premium was 380 approx.

Swapped the Omega for a Saab Aero Estate (Group17) about 3 weeks before renewal. Premium quoted for renewal want up to 490. I queried this but was told it was the change in groups plus about 10% annual premium increase. Odd that the previous year had gone down 10% then.

Shopped around and got cover for 390 ish on a lower excess. Admittedly I don't get included EU cover - but then I never used that before anyway.

316 sounds like a mistake but I would love to think it isn't. However check very carefully as they (insurance companies in general) will always try to wriggle out of things in the event of a claim.

Well I have done the deed, I checked EVERYTHING and they have all the details - even my other 1/2's two previous crashes.

I even changed her name as we got married a few months ago and the price was still an unbelieveable £316.32

I had a few other quotes from A-Plan etc and they were coming in at around £500

So this could be the bargain of the year, aslong as I get the certificate in the post

Darned right, especially in your area of the country. Maybe I should have used may address down there for my policies (though I no longer have the property.)

I may try them again myself just out of interest. Quotes seem to change daily anyway.

Well the good news is I'm insured, got the certificate and everything.

Then the postman delivers an unexpected letter from L&V.....

"You may have noticed that there was a significant reduction in the premium compared to last year"

Damn right there was a reduction it goes on...

"This was due to a computer error in the premium calculation routine"

So here is me panicking that I'll have to pay it back, but no....

"We will stand by the premium that you were offered but it will be corrected at the next renewal"

So thumbs up to L&V, they made a mistake but I'll surely pay the price next year

Dan the man....you luck so and so

Having seen your quote I called Liverpool Victoria yesterday for a quote on a new CV8 and was told....£1366 !!

Best I've had so far was about £660 from Norwich Union. Might try Adrian Flux today.

Cheers,

Neil
