? Seen the pics on the Holden site of the YZ Monaro and note that a few things such as the bonnet and the petrol cap have changed to suit the Pontiac GTO requirements. Also that the HSV GTO has the LS2 unit...

....so does anyone know if we will be getting this update on the Vauxhall Moanro and the VXR (aka HSV GTO)

thanks

"Stu Harris" from Vauxhall has been testing the Monaro with a LS2.

So come on "STU"..... you did say it was looking as though it would be next years VXR is it still going to be?

Id imagine your next shipments of Monaro will be VZ spec with LS1 and VXR to have LS2 as per HSV.
Anyone know how many vehicles Vauxhall have left in current stock?
Updated VZ models only when they are gone i guess.

2005 Monaro VXR will be the LS2 beast. We're having to take it with the current MM12 gearbox as running it with the 'new' gearbox doesn;t pass noise regs.

Cars will now be arriving in Feb. All 2004 VXR are sold except a few are as 'dealer demo'.

We're discussing the 2005 V8 models as well. I've also had several enquiries about fitting the new 'scoops' bonnet on the 2004 car so I'm bringing extra bonnets in .

Good news, can I have a VXR (Without scoopes) in Cosmos...........

When you say the box makes the car to noisy, do you mean the gearbox is noisy (even more than the old one!!!)

p.s. When do the HSV Drivers Club get that sneak preview of the 2005 VXR .........he he he

The VZ V8 Domestic gets a new gearbox called MM12 and has shorter ratios but same final drive. On the pass by noise test we end up going thru the test meters in a gear lower than the V2 car.
So we have to keep the old box. Same story on the the VXR.

Overall the car is noisier as the ambient noise has risen from the engine bay - nice V8 noise tho.

The exhausts are tuned to suit the dBa but give a better grumble. On the V8 they are twin 90mm diameter on the VXR they are quad 40mm .

Hi Stu. Interesting comments on noise is this the UK regs or Aus. I thought the noise regs in Aus are much tighter than here?

Thanks Stu for the clarification.

Curious to why change the ratios - is the LS2 so different to need need ratios - the current one is excellent???
