Basically before I share today’s results from Abbey Motorsport I have two BIG THANK YOU’s to give out,firstly Dan, Abbey’s ‘dynapack’ tuning wizard and secondly but not least our very own Paul Spinks (ukhsv), without them I doubt if the progress made today would have been realised, oh yes and I recommend very strongly that you go out and get HP Tuners software.
*599.9 torque (3rd run)
*550.4 rwbhp (3rd run)
The figures below are again from Abbey Motorsport but after taking delivery of my Stage Four conversion (blower/cam etc) in March this year from LSV.
438.5 torque (1st Run)
362.9 rwbhp (1st run)
After fuel pump diaphragm change, belt & pulley changes (2nd run)
492.1 torque
419.4 rwbhp
Obviously I have original copies of the 3 runs I have undertaken at Abbey and LSV (Mark) have done their utmost to appease me but could ‘not take it any further’ without diagnostic software interrogation.
So you get what you pay for or do you?
£300 outlay for HP Tuners is worth about £2,000 to me; well that’s how I look at for gaining 131 BHP!

Elementary my dear Jagsy, software interrogation, without it you’ll go nowhere.
On the way home I noticed having to use my brakes more & harder and when I look in the RV mirror at what I’ve just been overtaken is about ½ a mile back. I’m just a bit scared at the moment as it’s raining & I don’t use TC so I think I will stay in tonight, tomorrow is another day….

Glad your happy with it! Its finally getting close to the power you have paid for.
I think the main thing we have done that the other tuner didnt, was use a Chassis Dynomometer to take a logical approach to working out what was wrong, and what we could do about it. V8HSV is now the result of a controlled tuning environment.
Always be wary of a tuner that thrashes up and down the road to setup your car, its not appropriate, scientific, or the correct way to do things.

Will, I think you have been one very patient mother, to have waited that long to get figures you paid for just ain't right.

Just a quick congrats to Will for finally getting things sorted. And Top marks to Abbey for being able to do it, definately put yourselfs on the map there . Thinking you might get some bookings now.
I'm scared already and I havent even been in the "new and Improved" beast.

Dan from Abbey has invited me to Bruntingthorpe next time they are there, mid-week event so I should not get kicked off for noise (hopefully) and will take those interested out for a blast, otherwise next time we meet up but I do have a problem applying the power as I keep running out of road!

No Mark did not attend from LSV.
Yes I got a good result but the bottom line is that I did not get what I paid for from LSV, £15k outlay for 600 BHP, £3k of that was the cam for 60 BHP, so in crude terms I have yet to get the missing 60 BHP/£3k and if I do via Abbey at my expense I am now wondering if there is any legal redress let alone the Trade Descriptions Act.
Have had more than one conversation with LSV customers who do not think they have got the power they have paid for (2 cases proved at Abbey) so if anyone wants to contact me off the forum I think its time we got together to sort this out once and for all.
I must own up that the figures obtained/quoted are SAE & not DIN as previously used so in a court of law using Abbey as 'expert witness' I would claim that on BHP I was given a car with 460 BHP at the flywheel (419.4 rwbhp) and currently via Abbey/HP Tuners have obtained 540 BHP (500 rwbhp)

While such a kit may be sold as a package, you can never get the most from it, without re-mapping each individual car. Kits as such will be sold to give good gains, while remaining totally safe in every respect. They may also withhold power, to save items like clutch and transmission, so more users would be happy purchasing. If someone wants more, then its at their risk.
As for the cam, I would say that whatever cam you were sold ( out of curiosity what was it ? ) may have the potential to release 60bhp from your engine. Its not a case of this cam gives you 60bhp...end of story.
Again, the ecu would have to be re-mapped in order to have any chance of seeing that power increase. Simply fitting and forgetting, without altering fuelling or ignition, it would be foolish to expect any gains, let alone the max gains expected for that cam.
You now have around 550rwhp. What sort of fuel system are you using ?

I have been a bit slow in getting stuff onto the club site at the moment as I am in the middle of a double house move!!!!

one last thing the Linden tune would not rev past 4600rpm (approx) that is why there curve drops away so fast!!

Have you changed your injectors ?? If not, then I'd think you are running dangerously close to their maximum, and it really would be a sensible idea to get larger ones fitted before attempting any more power.
The std LS1 inj are only 30lb or approx 300cc
What sort of inj duty cycles are you seeing ?? You really dont want much over 80% at max power/torque.
Most of the US guys also wouldnt push much further than what you have with the returnless fuel system either.

Dont forget, when sizing injectors, always size for 80% max duty, and dont foget, that if you have say 600rwhp, there could be approx 50bhp lost through drivetrain, and parhaps 75bhp lost through driving teh supercharger.
So you actually need a fuel system capable of providing for 725bhp.
Always play safe, so it doesnt end in tears.

Just had an interesting conversation with Mark from LSV, great news they are in the process of buying HP Tuners software for most years/models and will be looking at rolling road tests in conjunction with their upgrades in future. In addition they would like to offer a 10% discount to UK drivers club members against their services.
Basically I have been assured that my grievences will be addressed and that it will be resolved to my satisfaction.
A final note, anyone that does not feel they have the addtional power quoted against what ever modifications LSV have undertaken should make contact with myself via email/off the forum or directly with Mark.
