Can anyone tell me whats involved with removing the alternator from an LS2 Ro.
It looks like it should be possible from the top by just removing the air intake.
Thought it best to ask before going past the point of no return!
Cheers.
Just nuts and bolts and a sprong tensioner. It's good to do jobs yourself it teaches you more about your carIt looks like it should be possible from the top by just removing the air intake.

Thanks.
It looks to be pretty much 3 bolts and 2 electrical connections.
Does anyone know if I can getaway with leaving the PS pump in place and persuade it to come out along side the engine? The WS manual says to remove the PS pump, but I'm guessing thats just to make access to the 3 mounting bolts easier, but I can undo them with the PS pump in place.

You can remove the power steering pump to get a bit more room don't disconnect it just unbolt and and let it hang downIt looks to be pretty much 3 bolts and 2 electrical connections.

Time to revive an old thread!
Anyone had any issues with actually getting the alternator out from the brackets?
All three bolts undone and removed, both electrical connections out also.
The alternator is almost wedged in, am I missing something?
It's faulty and needs to be removed for testing refund (8 months old) but I'm wondering if the previous owners garage had this much getting it in, smacking it into place and therefore that's why it's dodgy

Could be a build up of alumiinium oxide. That white powdery stuff. Probably just wants some encouragement.Anyone had any issues with actually getting the alternator out from the brackets?

Old post revival , my alternator on my ls1 04 cv8 , charging voltage is all over the place from 12.3 to 14.5 , plus fault light came up on dash for the alternator the plug in electrical connector seems fine , so i’m assuming it’s at fault , i’ve ordered the used one off the fish i’m assuming it is still in stock , is the removal from a 04 cv8 same as above or different to newer monaro’s as it’s a different type of alternator , i will probably get current one refurbed as a spare , any thoughts or advice please cheers
I’ve managed to get it off now , by taking top rad hose off and fans out , a bit of a knock with a hammer helps , the problem i have now is local place can not recon it as they don’t have the parts any idea who has parts for them , or option 2 is buy a new one but i know they are a lot, any sources any one knows of please ?
