Just some news for you as I have just watched qualifying on video!
The Skaife car broke a Watts linkage near the start of qualifying and got fixed near the end and only had time to do a couple of laps. I think its best lap was before it broke.
The 2nd PWR car is not well after hitting the wall. It was a brand new car.
The lead Kmart car no.15 is actually the no.51 from surprise surprise last year!!! ie it is the very car that did the super duper qualifying time from last year and was the eventual winner.
Top Ten tomorrow!
Another website for race results is www.natsoft.com.au
I have a batch of cars to follow!
I would like to see Jim Richards win again, he is co-driving with his son. My other Holden car is the Tasman motorsport car. I have some Fords as well!! Lowndes car and the Bargwarna's car.

G'Day motomk,

Many thanks for the update.

So thats why Skaifey was so slow today. I want Brocky to win as I've been a big fan of his for years, 1970's Torana's. I also want Brighty to do well & win the Championship for HOLDEN !

I do miss sitting in front of the Telly ALL DAY & whatching it, I camped on the Mountain all through the 80's & can't wait to return to Aus & go back again.

All the best mate, keep us posted on the ltest happenings,

Rob.

The HRT cars are down in Skaife, 18th and Brock, 26th after tough a day yesterday, but bounced back this morning with a time that would have been good enough for fourth on the grid in the Shootout

Mark Skaife: “The car speed was really encouraging this morning. Obviously it is really frustrating to have the pace and not be in the Shoot Out. But we are confident we have fixed the rear suspension problem from yesterday, and I am happy with the balance and the changes that we have made. Until we get in the mix tomorrow we can’t make any predictions, but we have the package to mix it with the best in the race, and it is a long day where anything can happen. We just plan to work hard to get in the mix and make a race of it”.

Half race update!
Brocks car is out as is the second Ozemail Falcon. The falcon ended up on its roof!
Bright is about 2 laps down after a brake problem.
Skaife's car needed to change some of the belts on the engine and is also about 2 laps down.
Cars going well are the Lowndes car, Kmart car,Bargwanna car and Richards car even after hitting the tyre barrier! The 888,Tasman, and DJR cars aren't going too bad either.
61 laps to go and 3 cars, they reckon only have to make 1 stop whereas everyone else 2 stops!! All Falcons!! However they are running down the back of the pack a bit!

They actually had the footage of the Kangaroo but only showed it a couple of times before never replaying it again as it did not look pretty. I think it was just after turn 2. Jim Richards was driving and had nowhere to go. A lot of cars were doing in their front right tyres for some reason including the 05 car, however I don't think it was going anywhere after the Ozemail car hit it. The Valvoline 34 was running well before it was accidentally pushed into the wall at turn 2.
888 Radisich car was going ok beofre it did its Fourth upright for the meeting. Morris's sirromet car also came together with the wall. The Lowndes car stopped 8 times during the race! The average was 4 or 5 I think, so he did really well. He kept having to top up oil in the boot! Skaife finished but well down...he unlapped himself at least once that I can remember.
Here are the final results. oops Thanks to www.natsoft.com.au

"" Mark Skaife now ranks as one of the most successful touring car drivers in Australia’s motor sport history "", with 5 titles (equal with Ian Geoghegan and Dick Johnson) and 35 round wins (second only to Peter Brock.)

After commencing his racing in karts, Skaife graduated to circuit racing in 1984 at age 17. The early part of the nineties was his first productive period with victories at Bathurst in 1991 and '92,
Touring Car titles in '92 and '94 and "Gold Star's" in the Australian Driver's Championship in '91 '92 and '93.

A move to the Holden Racing Team upon the retirement of Peter Brock in 1997 has led to the next successful phase of his career, finishing third in the V8 Supercar series in both 1998 and '99, before his “three-peat” of Championship successes in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

The drama-filled year of 2003 saw Skaife take over the ownership of HRT following the troubles of the TWR Group and Holden’s subsequent buy out of the UK Company and he finished the year by being elected to the TEGA Board, the V8 Supercar category’s technical controlling body.

With a stable environment of people, ownership and a say in the future of the category, Skaife is set to focus on adding more achievements to his impressive list of accomplishments, which includes receiving the Order of Australia Medal in this year’s Australia Day Awards.

THAT'S WHO MARK SKAIFE IS !

The most successful F**d Touring Car Driver at the moment would have to be Craig Lowndes. Most of his Achievements have come in a HOLDEN, with MARK SKAIFE in the HRT Car. He has won just ONE , yes 1 race in a F**d.

Career Achievements

1992
Victorian Formula Ford Champion
1993

V8 Supercar debut at Bathurst and Sandown endurance races with the Holden Racing Team (HRT), highlighted with a second place finish at Bathurst.
1995
Earned Pole Position at both 1995 Sandown and Bathurst endurance races with HRT.
1996
Signed as full time driver for HRT and became the youngest ever Australian Touring Car Champion at just 22 years of age. Lowndes became the second driver ever to win the Bathurst and Sandown endurance races along with the Championship title in the one season.
1997
Lowndes explored career opportunities in Europe, competing in the 1997 FIA Formula 3000 World Championship.
1998

the sport to win back to back titles.
2000
Third overall in the title chase, partnering HRT team mate Mark Skaife to the Championship victory at Bathurst.
2001
Lowndes made the decision to join Ford, signing with Gibson Motorsport to race a Falcon in the 2001

Debut Ford season started with a podium finish at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix V8 Supercar Showdown along with three further Championship event podium finishes at Phillip Island, Oran Park and Sandown. Lowndes finished 11th overall for the season.
2002
Joined Ford V8 Supercar Team 00 Motorsport for the new season and drove consistently throughout to finish the season 7th overall.
2003
Lowndes joined Ford Performance Racing, backed by the technical expertise of multiple World Championship winning motor racing and automotive engineering company, Prodrive. He won his first V8 Supercar round in a Ford and scored a memorable maiden FPR victory at Phillip Island, following this up with second places at Eastern Creek, Oran Park and Bathurst (with team mate Glenn Seton). Lowndes finished a solid 5th in FPR's debut season, marking the most successful team debut in the history of V8 Supercar racing.
2004
Lowndes' start to the new season has been highlighted with second place at the series' second Round at Sydney's Eastern Creek in a completely re-designed CAT FPR Falcon.
