VXR8 intermittent -intermittent wipers
Discussion
Hi all, hope you are all recovering from Christmas.
I have tried searching but it doest seem to work.
my intermittent wipers work intermittently, the symptoms are:
not working
working constantly
parking anywhere when you turn off
randomly working ( when switched on)
from searching the internet is seems it could be the contacts in the motor that tells the control relays its position, and it needs to have its contacts cleaned and re-greased.
any comments would be appreciated.

normally when a relay fails its permanent, it could be a bad connection where it plugs in, but im sure a read somewhere about it being a "Known Problem"
i found a good thread here from a Dodge form, these are GM wiper motors so they could be the same?

Further to this,
My wipers stopped altogether on route from York to Liverpool, I had to turn off on Sadelworth moor in thick fog.
I managed to get them going by moving the wiper with the power on, and left them on till I got home.
I then stripped down the motor to find as I suspected the contacts were contaminated on the park slip ring contact, there was evidence of water ingress or condensation. I cleaned off the grease and cleaned the rings and contacts, and put silicone around the gasket and reassembled , it now works as new. saved my self£220.00.
