G'Day Rev Heads,

HOLDEN DAY, SUNDAY 19TH SEPT at the BILLING AQUADROME Nr NORTHAMPTON.

www.billingaquadrome.com/home.php

Sorry it's short notice, but as I was only elected last month as the new Events Officer, for the Holden UK Register, I haven't had much time to get things organised.

We , the HOLDEN UK REGISTER have been allocated a Club Stand at the VBOA (Vauxhall Bedford Opel Association) Show next weekend, from Fri 17th to Sunday 19th September, (Sunday being the main Day).

I would like to invite some of the HSV owners to come along and park with us on the Holden Stand.

Please let me know if you would like to come along as you will need a Entry Pass for your car. Rally Plaques are avalable for only £1.00. (The Holden Uk Reg will pay for those as a thankyou to you for attending and supporting the Club).

I have a site map and if I can I will get Paul to post it on the Site. But if not the Stand is the SECOND STAND, ON THE LEFT, just over the small bridge as you go in. The road bends to the right, then as it straightens up we are there on the left just before the second road on the left. (confused ?) I can arrange to meet up outside the Show if you would like.

I will update this message as I get more info, ok.

Please post on this Forum if you wish to join us.

Regards,

Rob Apsey
Events Officer
Holden UK Register.

The all Vauxhall-Bedford-Opel rally at Billing used to be an annual pilgrimage for me during my Vauxhall Firenza/Magnum, VX4/90, and Opel Commodore/Monza days I've not been there for a few years, but I think the rally now includes pretty much anything 'GM', so it's well worth attending.

I can't say for sure at the moment, but I hope to be there on the Sunday. It will be the perfect excuse to try out the Linden stage 2 upgrade, and ripshifter, on a long run, as I'm having these fitted earlier on in the week

New owner of HSV recently imported from NZ, would be great to join you all - but does anyone know to speed up the process with the VOSA and their regulations to meet their standards to enable it to be registered. Its still parked in my garage after 4 weeks!!!!

What a superb day! Left home at 07:00 am and encoutered very little traffic on the way up to Billing with sunny and dry weather - ideal run to try out the stage 2 conversion - massive difference, feels like its a different car!

And what a friendly bunch of people you all are - it was great to meet everyone and talk all things Holden (and have a good laugh too!) KiwiHSV - loved the story that your partner ( ) recounted about buying a HSV numberplate (or tyring to buy one..) before you actually bought the car - that must be a true sign of a petrol head! Enjoy that R8!

I was one of only 2 Monaros at the show (the other one was a black VXR over on the Autobahnstormers stand) The various HSV's looked (and sounded...) amazing!

Rob - many thanks for the welcome - it was very interesting looking over your EH (my friend loved it!) and this is the first time I've had a look at a '71 Torana up close.

Paul HSV - thanks for demonstrating the PCM 'edit' and the engine performance data logging application .... very interesting stuff .... something i'd like to get into.

Hope nobody minded the occasional Monaro/HSV exhaust 'sound off' between myself and Will - it certainly got the crowd interested! (& far better than techno hip-hop from a subwoofer..)

I look forward to meeting you all again sometime. (Ace cafe will be my next meet)

A few pics (Paul - I'll send these to you in hi-res format if you require)

Paul.

I've forgotten the names to protect the guilty...

Great day, thanks to everyone.

Just have to share this with you:
Nice stretch of dual carriageway, I see the red Ferrari in front is going to over take so I hang back & let him make his move, he duly overtakes, I give the HSV everything and am amazed that not only am I keeping up but could have overtaken him too, quickly off the throttle and the Ferrari is still gunning it, realises I am not following so he slows down and pulls in. I go past him at 40 MPH and he tucks in behind. After about 5 minutes he gives up following, as I’m not playing.

I really think I scared him; I must have been 6” off his rear bumper under full bore.

G'Day Guys,

Yes another very good weekend. Arrived Sat arvo with Eric (V2HSV) & Pauline driving in just behind me. It was a long old trip in the EH, about 3 hrs all up with the 30min's in traffic jams, not good no the back. Love the Car Eric & the Sting Red sets it of !

We set about putting the tents up (if you could call min a tent), Paul & Annaleise arrived about just before dark so once they had there tent up & we set-up the Gazebo's, we lit the Barbie had some tucker then Eric set up the laptop & we watched 25yrs of Holden at Bathurst on DVD, what a way to end the night.

Up early, showers & wash the cars before the other guy's arrived. Was very Nice to meet Des (Kiwihsv) & his wife, from NZ. A good turnout after-all with 8 cars in the end.

I want to thank you guy's & Girls from the HSV UK Drivers Club for attending as apart from being a great bunch of people, your cars went down a treat !

Had a better run back home, no traffic jams & home in 2.5 hrs. Also had a little fun like Will, but not with a Ferrari just a K reg About a 1971 Vauxhall Victor (Victor is a lawn mower in Aus). Well I take it easy on long trips, sit around 60-65 MPH, so when this Victor shot past me I thought, the EH won't like some pommie car showing him up so I put the foot down a bit got up behind him & sat there for a while. When we go to a hill, I thought I'll have him now, so I went past him. When we go onto the flat & I went back to 60mph, he can back at me so I put the pedal to the metal & was off ! Got up to 80MPH and he dropped off. Must say that's the fastest I've been in her & I had to fight her a bit to stay in a straight line. But it was fun. When I slowed down again he went passed but wouldn't look over. Bad looser hay.

Get some pic's to Paul ASAP.

EH Holden, Drive On !
