Before I start - I know you don't buy a 5.7 V8 with economy in mind....

...however last weekend I did a run from Surrey to Kielder & back via various places, took my mates out for several runs through the scottish borders and the trip computer averaged 26.9 mpg (808 miles/30gal) which I think is amazing, it sits at 28.5 mpg on the m-way and obviously plummets when you have fun but that's not bad is it ?

My old 2 litre Impreza was lucky to get anywhere near that figure on the m-way alone, and the engine was nearly 3x smaller - hows that work then?

What do you guys average (and yeah I can get it under 3mpg if I try)

Jagsy - you know where ths is...

300 miles to a tank generally. 400 when I drove to Paris and back with the in laws following at a steady 80mph. Drops to 200 if the driving is all around town. People's first comment when they find out what's under my bonnet is always related to petrol consumption and I always tell them how good it is.

I 'used' to get 26-28 mpg but now I struggle to get better than 22 mpg with the blower. The reality is though that I fill up around 150 miles as opposed to 250 miles and around town = 10 & spirited driving about 5!

The best I've had from my Monaro V8 was 24 mpg on a run. But that meant sticking it into 6th gear asap, and being very very gentle with the gas pedal. It does 14 mpg around town and averages out at 19 mpg.

Getting an average of around 22mpg in normal use. goes up to 29 on a long run.

As stated, theres a lot of performance motors with less power that struggle to achieve this.

Cos I'm a Yorkshire man I measure every drop he hehe

Crusiing down the motorway at 80 with cruise control on 28.5 mpg.

A run out around the Dales (or Kielder Dan - whoa yes) with mixed driving from hard to gentle 25 / 26 mpg.

Around town stop and start 19 mpg.

Sad but I have the full history heheheh

Dan wehen you back - I like a run up that way.

Tep roughly the same for me around 28mpg on a decent run down to around 15-18 on stop start driving. One thing I have noticed is that it's always slightly better on Optimax.

Jagsy - I won't be up for ages (wedding + hmoon soon) but I will let u know.
Pheasant pub is 100 yds from my house and is now sporting a nice pair of black stripes up the hill after I took the proprietor for a spin.
