PCM Tuning Software
Discussion
After looking at the options available for reprogramming the PCM I have just taken delivery of "HP Tuners" VCM Editor.
This software allows you to data log any GM car which has OBDII (a programme language) so you can plug the computer into the car and record all the data on the PCM and then playback the Dyno run or track run to see where changes can be made to fuel, timing etc etc. for more power or economy.
When you have made the changes you simple re flash the new tune to the PCM.
One of the reasons for going with this product is its ability to data logo any GM car but more importantly the licensing on the product is by model year so my licence allows me to reprogram any 1999 commodore, with the option to buy other upgrade cars such as a 2004 Monaro, for about £200.
So I am off to learn about how my car runs and extract the full potential of the upgrades I have made.
