My auto gearbox has failed for the third time in 11 months. I now only have 1st and 2nd gears (the same problem every time). It has been rebuilt under warranty each time but General Motors are saying that they know what the problem is and when it happens, a new box is needed and it needs to be re-programmed. Can't really be too specific on details as solicitors are involved, but let's just say I'm not a happy bunny! I'll keep you posted and hope I can make the next meet!

slippery,

From my own experience, I know these txmsns (4L60E) are not strong enough behind the V8's.
My own box lost 4th gear solenoid/brakeband at 26,200kms and it was re-built totally (I asked for total re-build rather than only what was wrong).
I went T56 conversion so auto-box is now sat outside in my garage.
No matter, they WILL break, it has no rhyme or reason how long before they do, some go for ages and others well within warranty period.
From MY2004 on, GM-H started fitting the 4L65E to the V8's. Much stronger built and higher torque rating. Why not ask if the dealer can supply and fit one of these?

If I could get them to return my calls it would be a start! They have had it rebuilt three times in less than one year and it has gone again. Now rejecting the car under the sale of goods act as they don't seem to care. E.g. haven't even supplied me a courtesey car once and am still waiting for them to come up with a solution over 2 weeks after reporting the problem. Have lost all trust in them. Can't name them for legal reasons, but in case anyone is wondering, it's nothing to do with Linden. They have always been very helpful.
