HAD A REALLY WEIRD THING HAPPEN THIS AFTERNOON GOING ALONG DOING 40 MPH THEN SUDDENLY SPEEDO WENT CRAZY IT WENT RIGHT ROUND TO 200 MPH THEN THE REV COUNTER STARTED BOUNCING AROUND WILDLY. SWITCHED OVER TO THE DIGITAL SPEEDO YUP IT SAID 40. PULLED OVER AND STOPPED BUT ANALOGUE WAS STILL READING 60 MPH THEN SLOWLY THE NEEDLE DROPPED TO ZERO SWITCHED OFF THE ENGINE THEN RESTARTED BOTH REV&SPEEDO WENT WILD BOUNCING ALL OVER THE DIALS SWITCHED OFF AGAIN TOOK KEY OUT AND SAT THINKING ABOUT IT FOR 5 MINS.SWITCHED ON AGAIN EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WILL BE BACK TO THE DEALERS FIRST THING MONDAY.

Mine did the exact thing you describe, after only about 200 miles. Apparently I drove all the way home at 200mph! Restarts didn't solve the problem until I left it overnight and tried it again, and it was fine. It's never done it again since then, not even misbehaved slightly. Weird.

Bit off-topic this but... thanks for the welcome, folks

My Monaro is "just" the standard Vauxhall-badged CV8 in Impulse Blue, no spoiler or other extras. First saw on Top Gear last November, ordered in April, collected in May, haven't stopped grinning since!

Although I've been reading about them here with some interest, I've no immediate plans to fit any upgrades. That might sound a bit girly (or soft and southern ) to the more hardcore of you, but this car is just the mutt's nuts as it is IMO. I love the wolf-in-sheep's-clothing effect, just watching the look on a Beemer driver's face as he gets unexpectedly cr@pped all over is such a laugh!

Can you believe I actually liked my old 16V Calibra??? Still, we all have to learn sometime.

Enough newcomer waffle. Cheers all.

Sorry moosy, where are my manner he he.

Glad you love the Munaro and welcome to the club.

Keep enjoying the Beeeeemer thrill.

On the way home on Sunday I had a gentle tussle with a Z3 M soft top with the 4 pipes out the back. We followed each other for a few miles, gently overtaking each other. Then we approached a serious of roundabouts, me infront. First one I did nothing, Beeeeemer up my asssss.. Second roundabout I exited in 3rd at 40 and gassed my way to just over 70 (ok more than that, not much more) and made 2 lengths on this beeeeeemer. I just eased off to continue my cruising speed, next thing he was RIGHT on my asssss. Guess I updet him - can you imagine if I'd dropped into 2nd he hehehe

You probably didn't upset him, he was probably getting as close as he could, so he could have a good listen!

My instruments were fluctuating when starting up a few days ago. I put it down to a bit of spilt oil when I topped up the engine a few hours before. Not had any problem since. (touch wood!)

I've had that problem with my instruments too. The fuel guage got stuck on maximum, and the speedo was reading way too fast, it went right around to 200 mph. Switching the engine off and restarting didn't cure it, although everything was fine the next day and it hasn't done it since ...
