One of the Guys I work with has Had a Monaro on order for some 2 months now.

When he placed the order he was told that a car would be available within a couple of weeks, so he sold his car and sat back to wait the week or so for it to arrive.

That was over a month ago and still no car!!!!! or even any idea when it might turn up! and he is getting p***ed off asking for people to driving him about!

So Uncle Vauxhall do you have a problem with supply? have you underestimated the demand? and when will he get his car?

The guys who have recived there Monaro's did you get messed about? if so which dealers..........

No surprise! As I've said many times before, there is every sign that they will end up discontinuing the Monaro due to a lack of sales, when the real problem is the lack of professionalism. Instead of being gen'd up on a product to be proud of, you don't ever seem to be able to get a straight answer to even the simplest questions, with the staff just falling back on the "They are still new and we haven't sold many" excuse. Carry on like this and they won't be selling many more that's for sure. Having graphics that wouldn't look out of place on a parts delivery van on the demonstrators probably doesn't help either! I hope at the very least that they have supplied him with a courtesey car whilst he endures the wait.

Looks like I was lucky, in Aldershot they had a red one in the showroom ready for any prospective buyer but I wanted blue and he said at least 4-6 weeks wait as "there was one on the ferry". I ummd and aahd about it for a few days, went back and said I'd have the blue one if it was still available and it was ready for collection within 3 weeks.

The guy there is a VXR specialist (owns the two seater) and knew his stuff, had a few CV8 test drives and also got the lowdown and sit in the VXR but money dictated the CV8 purchase. I even took it back to him with the Linden upgrade and he was well impressed after I gave him a test drive - so they arent all bad - its worth the wait.

Got mine from Bramall in Middlesbrough, within 4 weeks of order. They told me they had one due and delivered as promised. They also had blue and silver models in the showroom in May.
Belmont in Edinburgh were more enthusiastic about the car (fella called Stephen) and also appeared able to deliver within 4 weeks.
I think you can order on the Vauxhall website, but that may just be the VXR.

This is not rocket science.

Lets assume factory to dealer a minimum of 6 weeks. Probably conservative. If you are promissed a vehicle in under this time it is already en-route. Vauxhall must know how many are being shipped they should also be able to monitor how many are being sold / allocated to each dealer. If they promise one that another dealer has sold its just plain bad management. If they have sold all those en-route then they should admit the cars will have to come from the factory.

If he had been told the car would take two or more months to arrive he would have been happy to wait....

But telling him it would arrive very soon he was forced to sell his car fast!!! (at a very good price) and now he is left with no transport (except for his new HSV chauffeur service) and no offer from he dealer with regards to a courtesy car.

Hi Piston Broke here and very very pissed off with Picador in Southampton... Test drove the Monaro in early May was told they had a car lined up for me in a couple of weeks. Waited excitedly for my new Monaro to arrive as promised. Nearly a month later Picador phoned me and told me they no longer have a delivery date and have no idea when it will arrive and can't tell me when I can expect delivery.
Another month has gone by and still no news..phoned them today and got cut off..when I eventually get to speak to someone they have no idea whats going on and promise to ring me back... Now I'm really pissed off... it's been so long I've actually forgotten what the van looks like??????
Seriously though, what really worries me is what kind of the after sales service can I expect from Picador, especially considering the pre sales service and broken promises I have received to date..
I have spoken with Phoenix the Vauxhall dealer in Wimbledon and they say delivery is one and half to two months maximum and the vehicles are already in the country..so what's the problem with delivery?
Could it be there is a problem with the car? or is it just second rate vauxhall service.....

PS: Picador just phoned and told me it should be ready for collection next week...the boat broke down and the cars had to transfered from one ship to another!!!! Hopefully i should be taking delivery by the end of July..
Will keep you posted.....

It's way girly, especially when compared to a real HSV, I suspect as a bare minimum you should consider changing the exhaust to give it some bark.

I knew even before I picked my "girly" one up that it would need beefing up a bit as it sounds like a 1.1 ford fiesta, and when I compared it to Pauls HSV it might as well have been pink with pigtails and they don't get any more girly than that.

Check out the Linden upgrades and start saving.....

Catback exhaust .... check!
3.9's or 3.73 diff gears....check!
Second hole in the Cold Air Intake....check!
Edit...check

Goodbye HSV's???...check!!! Just stirring them up a little!!! I don't have access to my full compliment of smileys here so I have to be careful!!!

Now Need new brakes??....check!!!!!!

The fastest LS1's/GENIII's in Australia are generally Holdens....as most people don't like to mess around too much with their HSV's!!
Indeed the fastest at the momemt is a "girly" Monaro!!
Of course it is far from standard!! cough.....supercharger!!

There shouldn't be any problems with delivery, Vauxhall are putting 40 cars at a time on the ship, albeit, the ship did break down in the indian ocean which delayed the last load by two weeks, but then any dealer with any brains will always underpromise and overdeliver, so adds a few weeks when quoting to customers.

There are a lot of good dealers, I would have said it depends a lot on who you are dealing with, if you having a problem with Piccador for example, ring and ask for Graham Jacobs, he'll get things sorted for you.

A lot of dealerships, such as mine, always ensure we have enough stock, or at least have cars on order so folks dont have to wait a long time.

And there is nothing Girlie about the V8, any car that will break traction in fourth at 100 (on the track obviously)is a manly car in my book, the VXR is however another legue, not so much because of the extra power, but more to do with the fact that it actualy does give feedback, the brakes are increadable, the ride is firmer, giving less roll, the exhaust note is still a bit girly, but then Vauxhall have to please the greenparty girls.

If anyone does experience any problems with delivery, dont be shy about contacting Vauxhall to find out where it is, theyre easy enough to trace.

I'm pleased with mine, but it's not perfect.

I really love its looks, and performance, and the handling is amazing for a car of its size.

My main concern is with the ride quality. The springs may be soft (as most of the UK press road tests reported) but in my opinion the damping is way too hard. Every time you go over a drain cover, or pot hole, no matter how big or small, it shakes the body. Even at speed on motorways, you sometimes find you are bounced up and down in the seat. It's lucky then that the seats are very comfortable.

I have a few other niggles. The exhaust is so quiet that you have no idea that are driving a V8. The sound quality from the Radio/CD is poor, and there is no RDS so on long trips you have to keep retuning it and you get no traffic announcements. I want to replace it but I've been unable to find a facia panel adaptor - anybody??? And why did they put the indicator stalk on the right hand side?

Its a fun car though. The huge torque and tyre smoking ability make up for its shortcomings.

Because thats where its always been on Australian cars, and most RHD cars traditionally.
On LHD export Holdens its in the correct place on the left side of the column.
The reason you are used to RHD cars having it on the left is because Opel (and others) are too cheap to build a proper LHD and RHD versions.

Re the indicator stalk, after driving the HSV and jumping back into a euro box, I continue to use the RHS - so I prefer the indicator on the right.

As for radio panels, do Halfords sell a single DIN universal infill compartment?

Talk to ukhsv! There is a blanking plate for the stereo, although I haven't seen one fitted! It blanks out the whole panel so I guess you can put a hole in it and mount a single DIN item!
You may find it is the speakers that are the week link regarding sound quality!
As it is Blaupunkt gear...you could maybe ask Blaupunkt about whether the steering wheel controls work with any of the aftermarket Blaupunkt gear!
