Not a huge deal, but 2 things I need to get sorted before VOSA will issue me my IVA Certificate:

1) Rear Fog Lamp (fitted)

2) Front & rear positional lamps must only emit white light to the front / red light to the rear.

So, that being said can someone reccomend a good shop / garage type place that does IVA work?
(Preferably near / in South Wales or West / South West England)

Thanks in advance! smile

So are we looking for someone to change the front and rear amber lights to only work as turn indicators, rather than as side lights?

If so, on some cars this can be done via the dealer options in the on board computer, rather than having to be hard-wired. Not sure if this is the case with the G8/VXR8/Commodore though.

I'm not 100% sure. The VOSA dude didn't really make it clear to me, but I knew I was getting the fail sheet, so I figure places that do IVA lighting work will know what VOSA wants.

I might go back there tomorrow to talk to the guy, to see if I can grasp which exact lights need to be changed.

I wish / hope it would be as easy as swapping out different color bulbs, or changing dealer options in the on board computer......

You need to talk to someone who does IVA prep. Teslyn Engineering seem pretty switched on with this kind of stuff.

There are other people who will do the job for less money.

There's always someone who will. You normally get what you pay for though. (But sometimes not.)

Hope you get it sorted Mike!!!

Hi,

A continuation in a way of this topic.

I have a Maloo which was imported for me by WPUK in 2008 and now need to register it in Germany. I've imported some Pontiac G8 headlights and only once fitting them - but before putting the front bumper back on - I've realised that the side lights are orange. But then looking at the originals the front ones are orange as well.

Can someone post a picture or a description of the front of a VXR8 (which will be the same I'm sure) with just the sidelights on? I can't see how they won't be orange but if I have a before picture perhaps I can work out how WPUK/Vauxhall made the cars comply.

If anyone has imported a VXR8/Maloo etc into Germany I'd appreciate any advice you can provide.

Thanks

You may have a problem with them. Last time I checked, the US used a flat beam pattern and didn't bias to the nearside, as we and the EU do.

Not sure on the orange sidelight. Maybe check on one of the US forums?

In general, you have to fit a separate white sidelight to the front.
The Euro C5 had a round one, inboard of the indicator cluster, others use aftermarket clear indicator clusters. you have to snip and remove the wire for the orange sidelight.
Also, from memory, the sidelight and indicator cannot occupy the same compartment in a cluster.
This is why you often see older Yanks with white side repeaters drilled into the nose. these days, you may be able to use an LED which is smaller and neater.

Hi,

Thanks for the response, the flat beam may be an issue - I wonder where to get a LHD light that does comply.

What I am after here however is a picture or description of what is illuminated on a Vauxhall VXR8 (or a VE Maloo is someone has one) that was officially imported into the UK.

Thanks

The obvious answer, although its unlikely anyone else will have the same question, is that RHD cars have a small sidelight bulb in the main beam element.

So I guess I'm going to be disassembling these headlights to try and build a LHD set from the pair(s).
