Do you get a 2 year warranty with a used car - like a Ferrari ?

Hi,

I just bought a Ghibli, but it had 2 years left on the manufacturer warranty. Also cam with 6 years / 36 months servicing.

Worth asking for 2 years I guess

I bought a Levante from a main dealer which was advertised with 1yr warranty.

I managed to negotiate an addition 1yr and a healthy discount... push them hard.

It helped that many similar aged cars from other authorised main dealers came with 2yrs approved used warranty.

The other half tried with the main dealer, but they didn't even return her email (talk about "it's good to talk"hehe)

But the car has been for sale for over a year, but the dealership is known for looking after some and to hell with,

the less wealthy banghead

there was a dealer in central london who was arrogant as F as i am a commoner... when i wanted a test drive on a Ghibli i was told no so i stuck with BMW at the time and bought a 6 series.
I dealt with Maranello Egham who were the complete opposite when i wanted to replace the 6 series - we will see how good after sales are as there are a couple of niggles that need sorting with the Levante.

Dealers vary massively. We went around Marsh Barton in Exeter on a wet saturday after a tip run in our 20 year old Toyota. The Aston salesman didn't even move from his desk. Went to Carrs, got a coffee, told they were busy that day but did I want a testdrive the following weekend, and had (for us) quite a lot of money from us over the next few years.

They sell cars, they don't own the dealership nor could they afford to buy one. Why do they act like this?!

I had past good service from Maranello with my Levante and more recently beyond appalling / shocking / ...didn't even do what they said they had as part of the manufacturer spec service. I also have to say I was quite dismayed at the lack of knowledge blending into straight 'BS' on the sales when enquiring about an MC20. As a result I switched to HR Owen in West London and have had exemplary service.

So, maybe you'll get the good part or maybe you'll get the bad part, who knows!

For sales Marenello were fantastic. I turned up unannounced in a 15 year old Alfa 147 courtesy car with the name of the garage plastered over both sides. Salesman was approachable and friendly. Had a very decent test drive of the car I was interested in, then back to the showroom to go through the finance options. I didn't buy that car, but was on the fence for a couple of weeks.

Never used them for servicing though - there are far better options out there and none of them franchised.
