New Granturismo
Discussion
Stunning car and a real return to form for Maserati IMO. I owned a 2016 GTS from new and loved it, the facelifted version completely ruined the lines imo but this one looks beautiful.
Will probably look to get an electric one at some point once I've done being silly buying as many V8/V12s as I can before the ban comes in.

Blend of previous model GT and MC20 (front and rear lights).
Hope the dashboard looks elegant, as neither the prior GT nor the MC20's (and certainly not the Ghibli's or Levante) will cut it.
If priced correctly as well, and Maserati has a tendency to overprice, it could finally do very well in my view.

It is too similar to the current (old) one...they should have been a bit more adventurous
The way the old one looked wasn't it's biggest issue - quite the opposite IMO.The key things will be footprint and weight, but above all the way it handles.
The Taycan proves that size/weight don't have to be killers for b-road use....but smaller and lighter than the Taycan would be very preferable.
All that said, it would be nice if designers used the freedom that EV powertrains give to go different.
Also, did I hear that they made a deal out of using the transmission tunnel for batteries...? So maybe it is just the old car electrified? Autocar's article suggests not...but why use a transmission tunnel battery set up when the skateboard set up presumably gives even better weight distribution options??

Interesting.
Not shots of the interior, nor any details on range (unless I missed that). Shame they didn't resurrect the old banana lights.
I'm guessing this will be pushing £200k.
I can't believe this will be anywhere near 200k. My quite highly specced 2016 new was I vaguely recall about 110k. 200k has a hell of a lot of really serious competition. Accept it'll be more than the old version, quite a bit more for the electric but 200 seems unrealistic unless you're talking about loaded to the gills with carbon everywhere etc?Not shots of the interior, nor any details on range (unless I missed that). A well specd Taycan Turbo S is 170+ with less performance and a 4 door look. We'll see, I guess. 150 or less and I may ditch my Taycan order...

Nice, when is it due? I'm told UK spec, price and option list will be available in January for the GT.We'll see, I guess. 150 or less and I may ditch my Taycan order...
(I've ordered a GTS though, not a Turbo S - really don't see the added value in the higher spec).
Might have to do some more reading on the Maser...though it would need to be seriously good to top the Taycan - the Porsche is light years beyond the old GT I had (to be expected, with the best part of a decade between them...but still).

Explains the transmission tunnel.
Daft.
First impressions, very exciting.
I still think the first generation Gran Turismo is still one of the best looking cars ever produced.
Good to see an evolution of the original design… though the front looks a bit like a Scaglietti and Jaguar melange.
Rear, nicely tidied up.
Found some photos on the Top Gear site,

They're expecting the V6 to be ~£150k base.
That's pretty punchy money to me and I'd be surprised if anyone buys one for a number that doesn't start with a 2, but at that level there's a lot of other tasty cars about...

Things is, which other cars?
If you want an EV, there aren't many "premium" ones that aren't SUV oriented.
Everything in the EV world seems to have stepped up a pricing league.

Yeah you're right on the EV point, I meant non-ev. We're in the last hurrah of petrol and while I know there are a lot faster cars these days in hybrid/ev stakes, I feel like I'd rather spend 200k on a Ferrari/Aston/Lambo/McLaren than an electric GT. Appreciate not everyone will have that view. I'd also probably be more inclined to go the petrol version at 30k less with a nettuno V6.Things is, which other cars?

Appreciate that for some people they'll just want an EV in which case it's the only game in town at its price point (for now) but still feels bloody expensive for a Maserati and I do love the brand.
