2007 QP GT Sport
Discussion
I’ve found and am about to place (tomorrow) a deposit on a lovely 2007 QP (ZF not Duo).
It’s a QP GT Sport, 60k on miles, 7 serviced (every two years), now from what I can see it’s 12.5K OR 2 years, is that right?
It’s looks a lovely example of the earlier car, I’m not bothered about tech and all that, it’s a clean simple early example with the good gearbox and 4.2 engine.
Now. In terms of running costs am I right I can run a biannual service?
How stupid are parts prices?
As far as I’ve figured out a GT Sport (07) did away with the skyhook suspension.
Car will be used about 5k pa, no heavy weather use.
I’ve come from running a AM V8V as my second car, plenty of interchangeable Ford / Volvo parts, is there similar with the QP? (Recently sold my AR 166!).

Go on sportsmaserati website. You’ll get all the info you need there. QP’s are really great cars, but not cheap to run of course. This is to be expected, and you will be aware of getting some chunky bills having had an Aston!
Number one thing to do is get a marque specialist give it a check over before purchase. If it’s good, buy it, enjoy it and be a happy man. Just allow say £2k/year for all your running costs.
I’m not sure if earlier ones are 2 year//12k service intervals, later ones are like mine, but I still have a service each year by choice. They really won’t be anything like these again and they are as cheap as they are going to get I think.

Thanks ITP, it has had 2 year services from new, average 7.5k pa.
£2k pa for running is fine, I assume that’s averaged out so it might be £750 one year and £4K the next.
I’ve asked Mcgrath Maserati if they can inspect it, but I am meant to be collecting it Friday so I think it’s short notice.
Someone spent £5k odd on it earlier this year at Ferrari (servicing / MOTs all at mains dealer) so I’m guessing it’s been looked after and MOT history is green bar brakes / suspension / tyres.
It’s this one; https://www.oakdenecollection.co.uk/cars/maserati/...
So not life changing sums if it went horrifically wrong!

That’s a lovely (and classic Maserati) colour combination, looks a very nice car. Amazing value for what is essentially a ferrari saloon!£2k pa for running is fine, I assume that’s averaged out so it might be £750 one year and £4K the next.

It’s easy to be seduced by such beauty and sound for so little!
Sounds like it’s has some good history and a previous owner happy to maintain it, which is always a good sign. Still, usual checks apply, one of the main ones is the front subframe as this can be susceptible to rust. This is about 5k, if you can find one.. A well maintained one will have probably had this protected however, but it’s one of the main things to have checked.
Suspension bits can wear, it’s 2 tonnes, and aren’t cheap parts. A good check of the history should reveal when these parts were last replaced. But they will need replacing again at some point!
You are right about some years with not much spend, some years lots of bits at once and a higher bill, but it averages out. I would let any of this put you off, they are generally solid, reliable cars and have a real sense of occasion to own unmatched by most cars, and certainly nothing at all at a similar price.
I’d guess any sub frame rust would been picked up at MOT, even if it was just surface and / or detailed in any chassis check during servicing.
The plan was to daily it for a year and see what happens, unless there is grit on the road, I doubt it’ll fit in the garage as most has been taken for a utility room!
I do have a carcoon / trickle charger for worst case.

They do seem to have some nice stock there at that dealer, hopefully they are very picky in what they take in and it’s a great example. I quite like the XJ they have too!
Mine lives outside and gets used every week, it’s great. Not on fuel obviously, but I only do 5k ish a year too so that’s fine! They do like a healthy battery, so your trickle charger will come in handy if you are away for a while for example.
