Can modern Maserati’s comfortably run on E10 ? I am lead to believe from my handbook it requires premium fuel of 95+ and E10 is 94 however it has E5 and E10 on filler flap confused

Run comfortably? Yes. Be optimal? Probably not.

Depending on the maz you have, it's likely optimised for high octane as per manual and you'll likely only achieve peak power output with high octane, without it, peak power will drop (very marginally, not particularly noticeable I'd say under most driving conditions).

If the car says it'll handle E10 on the flap I'd imagine you'll be fine but you may want to give premium a try anyway. When I had my GranTurismo Sport (late 2016 model) I noticed that it idled rougher with standard than with premium.

I don't think this list is particularly comprehensive. For example it says all Ferraris pre 2005 should use E5 and then goes on to list models after 2005 that are OK with E10 but is doesn't for example say yes or no re 488, F8, Portofino or Roma . In other words it doesn't say whether a Ferrari V8 turbo is OK with E10. Anyone who knows the answer please feel free to post.

Premium fuel at the pumps is E5 (only the standard petrol is going to E10) so that's your preferred tipple.

Hi all,
email from maserati today:

"
Thank you for contacting Maserati and for you email dated 01/10/2021.

Regarding your inquiry about the compatibility of E10 with your 2008 4.2 Granturismo, we would like to inform you that your Maserati is compatible with the use of E10 fuel, however, optimal performance conditions are guaranteed by the fuels indicated in the Use and Maintenance Manual in your possession.

If there’s anything else we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Best regards,

Cristina Domenichini

That's good news, but I wonder if fuel efficiency will decrease, and by how much? So net-net will cars of that age pollute the same, less or indeed more?

BTW, Cristina's family name is awesome, so Italian, love it...
