Forgive the thread which has to a degree been covered before .. I might be in the market for a 4 seater Stradale ( the might being I had C7RS6 until recent head on so that car is no more and thinking what else might I want).
Question is why so few of them around ? I know the obvious answer is not many built but when I looked a couple of years ago , there seemed to be at least 3 or 4 . Have they become more desirable and/or not a good time at moment and there's usually a coupe more.
Cheers

If you believe How Many Left then there are only 117 Stradales out there, of which 13 are SORN. Of those not SORN maybe around 65 are four seat cars.

I think these are currently 'sticky' cars... What else is there for an existing four seat Stradale driver to upgrade/change to? Maybe for some a Ferrari FF... But little at a similar price point to the Stradale that offers the same mix of performance and practicality (if you want/need four seats) and the same positive reactions that the Maserati gets. Also it's arguably the last of the line in normally aspirated V8 cars from Maserati. More may unstick when the Alfieri comes to market - but that's now expected ~2022 and is also going to be EV - but I think anyone looking for one is going to require patience, particularly if you have strong opinions about colour or interior.

Worth signing up for the SportsMaserati forum where there's a lot more traffic than here. e.g. this thread on how to avoid a poor Cat N (was Cat D) example was quite interesting.

Well - here I am almost begging to be flamed.

I don't see the Stradale as being a highly collectible car (I presume it will start to appreciate - but not with a rocket).

PLEASE NOTE - i say this as the owner of 2 Masers, which I purchased specifically as investments...so I have done a bit of homework on this....and I'd buy a Stradale in a heartbeat if I thought I was wrong...but I am not confident I am

Put simply....

whilst it is an achingly beautiful car to look at (a huge plus for a collectable car),
and it is 'somewhat' rare (total production, RHD variant, 2 or 4 seat config)
the problem is in performance.......
it is comparatively slow for super cars of the era (0-100kmh in about 4.6s?)......
it is not much of a step change from the base GT (it's a tuning and weight issue correct? no power gain?)
460BHP is not exactly setting the world alight for horsepower in this day and age
it is not really a step change in power or performance from preceding models - such as the 4200 / Gransport.

If you take the Gransport (no points for guessing what I own) - it's a touch under 400BHP, but somewhat lighter, and its 0-100 times almost the same. Equally as beautiful to look at (well, almost, but not quite) - and in spyder variant, I believe 44 RHD models only (probably high 30's by now).

I personally don't think I could ever find that moment where the Stradale strikes me as an investment. Sure, I await those who wish to lecture that it is not about investment (despite the fact that this is a huge global industry), and cars are 'designed' (assured) to cost money.

In having said that - what do I reckon is a gilt edged investment at a cheap and realistic price? Audi R8 V10 GT. 333 in total - probably 50 in RHD. 550BHP and 0-100 in 3.6. Production in 2012/3 - not what maserati thought acceptable in 2018. Just as nice to look at, and tears the ba**s off the Stradale.

I know I will be flamed - but i think Maserati were content to put the worlds most beautiful looking car onto a rather ho hum drive train - and milk the concept for 12 years.

So enjoy your Stradale to drive...and to look at....and to listen to, just not as the collectible.

In saying that - they do seem rare now - so maybe I will be proven wrong.

I think the thread was less about investment potential and more about cars being available on the market / very few for sale
I’d also say that cars that have not appreciated substantially over the last few years, will probably not do so for a long time (and probably never enough to make up for the holding costs...)

I certainly wasn't posting saying it was an investment (good or bad).

I do think, however, it's a car (in four seat guise) with few direct competitors at its price point. Agreed, it's not fast in the way a true sports car is fast - it's too big and too heavy. But as a means of transport for four people over a decent distance at speed and on a smiles per mile basis it has its niche. No plans to sell mine any time soon - and equally aware it will likely depreciate steadily (as a consequence of both maintenance costs and fuel efficiency)
