Granturismo Bluetooh/Ipod etc
Discussion
If you haven't seen the thread Awesome - full touchscreen Apple CarPlay within existing Granturismo head unit on Sports Maserati it might be of interest.
Suggestion that an Australian outfit have found a way to do touchscreen CarPlay and keep the existing NIT / Nav working. Not sure if it works on the earliest cars, and waiting to see how the first UK fitting goes... but looks like it has real potential. I'm not an owner yet, but have bookmarked this for when I do take the plunge later this year.

First Quattroporte in the UK and possibly the world with Apple car play! says that the system works (and that while it was more difficult to fit in the Quattroporte, it will also fit that as well as the GT).

Am I missing something here, loads of places can retrofit an aftermarket double din unit & custom bezeljakesmith said:

It's not an aftermarket unit. It retains the original system which can be flicked to readily if so desired. Also easily reversible. It looks like a good solution IMO. If I still had my GT, I'd probably go with this.

Oh OK right you are, I have seen that before as it goes, in earnest it is good to preserve the OEM dash on a car like this where buyers like originality, I do think the OEM look is good tooIt looks like a good solution IMO. If I still had my GT, I'd probably go with this.

Also if you remove OEM you have no way to set dash clock, reset trip computers, etc.
On my car the Dash clock has a button on itTrip computers are set by the buttons on the right of steering wheel
I know removing oem isn’t to everyone’s taste but it does give a bloody excellent head unit
With this other option are there separate rca outs, does it have active crossovers etc? What system runs exactly? Does the sound still come from the oem unit?

Sorry, wasn’t clear. Not the centre dash clock but the digital display clock
Clearly I don’t know how to use the trip computer properly! Will read the manual now...
There's a work-around ... Just rotate the bezel on the cruise control arm to activate the system (you don't need to actually turn it on) and the digital clock disappears! I always felt 2 clocks was excessive anyway for such an understated car (!)Clearly I don’t know how to use the trip computer properly! Will read the manual now...
