Hi wonder if anyone can help. Was on a longish drive last week and as passes through a town the engine yellow warning came on. As I stop the yellow A! in a circle comes on but goes out as soon as pull away. Two dealers gave different reasons and could not give me a clear definition of what the OBD code P244A was. Can any one give me a definition please as my reader says generic code consult manual. I am reluctant to take it in to either of them if they cannot give me a definition as it could be another means for them to have open access to my wallet now it is just outside of guarantee. I some times get a message stop start not available (I always have this turned off as it is more a hazard than a help). Clearing code and car is usually OK for the next journey no engine light just the A! every time stop. Second trip it usually comes on after 10 mins driving and checking with ODB get the P244A error whcih can be reset. No other messages or faults. Car drives fine but stop stat will not work when I do select it, battery is fully charged and good voltage, disconnected battery and checked all connectors and clamps all OK.

Please can any one help

I thought codes were somewhat standardised, if so:

DPF fault.

Thanks for reply. Yes I found this decode by searching the web but this is not what any of the dealers said. There seems to be only one DPF filter after the turbo not two as the code indicates. I can see a pressure switch from the DPF mounted on right side of engine rocker box but access to the pipe work looks to be a night mare but no sign of damage, and cannot see a second sensor to give the differential readings.

Can any one explain where the sensors are as first job I can do is to check wiring and connectors and possible change a sensor. What I cannot understand is after reset putting on OBD reader there are no pending codes no errors or messages and the engine warning lamp only comes on after one or two engine stops and 10 minutes driving not immediately as would expect if sensor faulty or DPF filter failed. For example just done mixed motorway, cross country town and stop start 150 mile run not a fault. Stopped for coffee for hour, did next 50 miles cross country again no fault, stopped for lunch and 10 mins into next part of the journey warning lamp came on but no change to performance, average MPG etc. As an engineer I am trying to sort out how the sensors work or if Maserati are using for another fault. Also why the stop start warning comes when stationary even when not selected as wouldnot expect DPF fault to prevent it doing stop start. Any one got the Ghibli Diesel manuals on line? I have the US petrol ones.

Sorry to ramble but once again thanks.

Have diagnosed faulty DPF sensor so ordered a new one, though it could be a split pipe or connection.
Does any one know where the sensor is mounted as what I thought it was is temperature sensor.

I can’t find a manual but aren’t they usually further down the system/exhaust rather than being at the top of the engine bay?
Try and find the part number here

Edit - item 25 on here?

Success, found the problem. Split rubber hose between DPF body and pipe to the sensor. Why do they place the hoses so close to the hot filter with no heat shield I do not know? Fingers crossed new hose will stand heat and last, wrapped in aluminium foil layers. Expect the other one will fail at some point.

Sourced a sensor at Eurospares www.eurospares.co.uk excellent service very helpful advising where it was located and half cost of others. Have not fitted new one, hope do not need to, but service from Eurospares worth the cost.

Thanks for the replies.clap
