Anyone know if the GranCabrio came standard with a tracker
Discussion
Im looking to insure my new Gran Cab, but one insurer says I need a tracker, so to save me paying again, someone said they thought they were fitted with a tracker as standard, is this true?
If so what make, model etc...? If this is bks, just let me know as need to make decision sharpish, thanks.
Cheers
Mike

Granturismo come with a Vodafone Navtrak, and I would have thought the Grancabrio would be the same - if so, it should have been supplied with two plastic alarm fobs. if no fobs came with the car, its a fair bet the subscription will have lapsed, so you'd need to contact vodaphone to restart

This. I had a GranCabrio and its subscription had lapsed, so ended up getting a new Tracker installed.Edited by ian996 on Thursday 31st August 20:15
If having a new tracker fitted, make sure you have the existing one removed. I know this sounds silly but believe me, they rarely remove the old ones. I know a garage that was investigating a battery drain on a Maser and found 4 defunct trackers still connected. Each taking juice from the battery.
Personally I'd just find an insurer that doesn't require them. Plenty are OK with this now, you just have to ask.
The Vodafone sub's are something stupid like £300 a year now. Which adds a pretty huge chunk onto your insurance costs.
Also agree with the view of removing old ones.
My understanding was that if you have the fobs, you don't need new ones. Just the system reactivating at the Vodafone end. (I suspect it's actually always active, just that they don't send you alerts if you haven't paid).

Try Esure, amongst others. Requirement depends on car value, usually if over 70 or 80K.
To be honest if you are unfortunate that the car is stolen, it's likely to be abused, so you'd probably rather want a replacement than a call for a late night pick up. Then you have the subsequent worry of watching out for any warning lights!

I just got my renewal letter through. The cost is £304 for one year and £850 or so for 3 years. I don't need it for the insurance, though it does knock a bit off the cost. I did renew last year though as I quite like the piece of mind, especially as I take the car abroad. If its nicked off the drive fair enough, if I'm in northern Italy I really want to know its gone as soon as possible. The Vodafone sub's are something stupid like £300 a year now. Mine came with (at the time) a Cobra tracker. The subscription had run out by I renewed this with a phone call and a credit card.
I've got one now on my car but the service is with Vodafone as Cobra got bought I believe? Pretty much the same thing but my insurer asked for this as part of the policy. Go for the 2 year option as opposed to the 1 as it was slightly cheaper that way
