Gran cabrio with 40k+ miles anything I should know?
Discussion
I'm looking at getting a Gran Cabrio, one I'm looking at has over 40k miles, so just wondering if anyone has any experience with these cars and likely issues? Is there anything I should be aware of? Or are there milestones for major work to be done etc that I should know about?
Thanks in advance

Depends on the age, servicing is at 12.5k miles or 2 years with 4 & 8 being bigger services than 2 & 6 & 10 years.
Mine (coupe) is on 42k. Things that can go are pretty normal for the type of car - springs, bushes, a/c compressor, sticking exhaust valves, epb. Brakes are expensive (did mine at 35k miles) so worth a look. Not sure about the roof on the cabrio but it has a huge space to cover. I park mine in a garage on a CTEK but I see a cabrio that lives in on street parking in central Edinburgh and it appears to cope with that given it does move from time to time.
I would have thought the cabrio is a nice car to tuck away for the long term, n/a engine, only 6 gears, less electronics than modern cars etc.
PS Just read the profile and see that you have/have had the automated clutch coupe. Doubt I have told you much then but at least no clutch to fail on the convertible...

From memory the 8 is just the 4; ie it's a 2 but with lamba sensors and fuel tank carbon filter. I did these in my year 4 service as I had the extended warranty but I suspect at 8 years old most people would just do a 2 year service and keep an eye on these items. Spark plugs are year 10 I think other than that the 2 and 4 year services just repeat as the car ages.
