GT and apply car play
Discussion
Not personally as I don't think its feasible on current model cars (may be on 2018 models).
I use this which is effective and allows control of the audio from your phone -

Used by several on the Sports Maserati forum.

I got Auto Audio in Park Royal to swap out every part of the GT's audio system. Replaced the head unit for the top of the range 8" Pioneer DAB unit with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Got all the speakers swapped for Morel, and 2 new amps, a Genesis 2x 100W powering the front components and a Cerwin Vega for the sub. Also had a reversing camera fitted.
It sounds unbelievable now loud or quiet and the functionality is 2018 not 1998!
They built a custom surround, and have a module they designed so the existing head can be removed without any error messages
£3.5k all in but transforms long drives

+1 on pictures etc.
How does it cope with non-ICE functions? e.g. you can get trip meter functions on the main screen, or nav info on the instrument cluster screen between the dials. I'm assuming these functions are lost?
Hi, pics below. How does it cope with non-ICE functions? e.g. you can get trip meter functions on the main screen, or nav info on the instrument cluster screen between the dials. I'm assuming these functions are lost?
I was a bit nervous about this but go through the functions on the Maserati head unit there is actually very little there that you ever change... all the trip meter stuff is on the binacle and through the buttons by the lights anyway so that isn't affected. All you lose is the ability to set the speed warning. It's not something I change anyway so wasn't an issue but I'm sure you could get them to change it for you come service time for you FOC.
You don't get turn instructions in the binacle but the onboard satnav was so utterly hopeless anyway that it wasn't a loss as I wouldn't have used it. In exchange for this you gain:
- Large 8" capacitative touch screen
- Steering wheel buttons still work
- Bluetooth
- Android Auto / Apple Carplay so you can use Google / Apple Maps with live traffic info on screen (although on both of these you are then forced to use their crappy voice recognition phone rather than the one built into the head unit, so you can't scroll through your phonebook for example)
- Sound quality is on a different planet & there are all the aux outs so you can drive amps & all that
- DAB radio
- The sat nav built into the head unit is superb
- Lots of customisable audio / eq settings to get it set up perfectly for the car
- Plug in an old iPod in the glovebox for 160GB of tunage all sorted & browsable by artist, song, album, with album art as you drive
- The phone function built into the head unit is superb, really easy & nice to use
- Lets you add reversing camera which is pretty useful considering the size of the car & the temperamental reversing sensors
- Stream stright from Bluetooth for Spotify if that's your thing

Like all the features just not keen on the look of the surround fabricated for the screen.
I do know what you mean - but I use the car day to day and get a lot more enjoyment from the fantastic functionality and performance of the Pioneer unit, than I did from the elegant looks of the useless piece of st that Maseratti thought was appropriate to put in their £100k car!jakesmith said:

I think he posts on here too, from time to time.
