Just had mine done so thought I'd post up a shout out to Colchester Maserati who have been absolutely superb. Very much recommended.

The car's 4yrs old but went with a 2yr service. Only material difference is the 4yr includes lambda sensor and carbon canister replacement. Neither of which, IME, are time based service items and they save a chunk off the cost.

Over 1k!

Std main dealer price for a 4yr is 2.4k, for a 2yr it's 1.3k (all roughly). Haggle, get stuff thrown in and provide your own oil and you can get both cheaper. But the 4yr cost is still lumpy.

I had one lambda fail on my AM V8V during ownership. It went at 8yrs and 50k miles. And did not disable the car or cause any issues that meant replacing on failure was an issue. It's the only one I've had fail on any car thus equipped.

As for the carbon canister...

Mine is going in in a couple of weeks ... see below.

For the 12.5K service which will include replacement of oil, air, pollen filters both engine auxiliary belts and engine oil, coolant, power steering fluid and brake fluid you will be looking at £1395 including VAT.

I had one go on a 156 GTA at around 8yrs and 90K, so 4 years does seem a little conservative. Having said that, I'll probably plan to extend my Maserati Warranty to 5 years, and am guessing that a full 4 yr service as per the schedule will be a pre-requisite for this.

I expect so.

However you're effectively adding 1k on top of the warranty cost (another 1.5k per annum?). Would cover a chunk of work being done (granted not an engine or gearbox...but then are they renowned for failure?).

My 2009 car was sold earler this year and if it helps it never had Lambda sensors updated - they hardly go wrong,.....

I just had my 4year service and had to have the lambdas and canister replaced to maintain the warranty (still has another 15 mths to run).

I managed to negotiate but it's still not cheap and arguably unnecessary. I wouldn't bother with them if I didn't have the factory warranty.
