Seized shock absorber bolt

I'm changing the rear shocks on my 944 and the lower mounting bolt is sezied in the bush. Any tips on how to shift it or should I just cut it off and get another?

If I get another can I go to my autofactors and get a suitably sized bolt or must I wait until monday and get a proper porsche one?

In this sort of situation, I tend to just apply more leverage until the thing either shifts or shears off.

The main problem was that the bolt was seized in the bush inner sleeve which just rotated in the bush so just had to keep hitting it with increasing force and worsening language until I freed it off. The other side was the same and I've just got it all back together.

It's always theraputic to ask on PH though and usually renews vigour for the next onslaught.

Just the front struts to do tomorrow now

Mark,if you ever need bolts,my mate works in a fastener company just by Thatcham station,give us a shout.

I see the problem is solved but just for next time I have had the same problem in the past and solved it with a ball joint splitter.

I'm quite handy with the 'persuaders' myself... but my ball joint splitter wasn't big enough so I had to get heavy with the lump hammer... it's a delicate game
